I think 16 Mig-29K, rest helicopters. Helicopters could be a combination of AEW, utility and attack helicopters.
Since INS Viraat will be retired soon, its helicopter group may be transferred to INS Vikrant. I hope this ship carries LCH (may be six at least).
Again Mig29K till 2048 no 2050 ohh may be 2055 as 55-18=37.
When most of the countries start turning towards sixth generation aircrafts.
Again why should it carry attack helicopters?

MiG-29K will be the primary combat aircraft element for both Vikramaditya & IAC-1 Vikrant as per present plans. Vikrant may also carry a number of NLCAs.

Only AEW (Ka-31), ASW, Utility/transport helos (S-70B/Sea King, light twin-engine helo, and possibly the 12-ton NMRH from time to time) will be operated from these 2 carriers. No attack helos.

If at all the IN (or the Naval Infantry currently being planned) make use of attack helos, it will be from the four LHDs we are planning to build. Not carriers. But that is more than a decade away - no point discussing that now.

Viraat's air group will retire along with the carrier. They may do some token flying at air-shows etc. but none of those Sea Harriers are even going to set foot on either Viki or IAC-1, rest assured.

Lol, then what is going to fly off IAC-2 with its catapults?
40-50 Naval AMCA (or whatever navy will call it)! Surprised? Let me put few questions to bring prospective.

Why Navy is so hard bent on naval lca and supporting MK-2 program singlehandedly? Is her requirement gona grow any larger than 100 (most inflated figure) ? How much MK-2 will contribute tactically over any other 4 gen fighter so much so that navy is backing it blindly (one might say) ? Most important question of all. Do you see design development and certification of Naval AMCA sailing smooth without know how which N-LCA will provide by 2025?

Fact of the issue is. Navy needs EMLS and nuclear propulsion on INS Vishal. But USA won't sell EMLS unless it gets to sell other things like planes and helicopter to bring profit and strategic benefits to equation . Situation might demand we might have to look towards France for a help in installing nuclear propulsion. And they won't show any interest if you don't keep them interested. This is where a sugar candy called Rafale M fits. As far as USA is concerned that sugar candy is/are F/A-18SH or/and F-35C, while E-2Ds are done deal.

Bottomline: In 2025 nothing adds more value than N-AMCA both strategically and economically. But road to it is not straight. So navy is working its way by all means.

#### Its N-AMCA for INS Vishal and add N-AURA to it. Take it even though it looks anything but

Land attack. Or attacking irregular forces like pirates. Just a hunch. As attack helicopters are used for creating a security perimeter around an airbase, same can be done for a floating airbase.

I don't think anyone here on DFI doesn't follow all thread in which you posted who a single thread.
So you shouldn't post these in each thread.

Indian Navy to replace Sea Harrier fighter planes with Russian MiG-29Ks

MiG-29K
The Indian Navy will de-induct its Sea Harrier fighter and induct a new squadron of MiG 29K planes at a formal ceremony at its naval station in Goa on May 11.
Britain-manufactured Sea Harriers, which have been the mainstay of the Indian Navy's aerial arm since their induction in 1983 and were stationed aboard the INS Vikrant, will now be replaced by the Russian MiG 29Ks, which are all-weather carrier-based multirole fighter aircraft.
The Sea Harrier pilots are now being trained to fly the Russian MiG 29K fighter aircraft.
India had planned to replace the Sea Harriers with the homemade Light Combat Aircraft (Naval) version but the program is more than 15 years behind schedule.
State-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. conducted a limited upgrade to the Sea Harriers in 2009 but acquisition of spares has become a problem because BAE Systems has stopped manufacturing the aircraft.
The limited upgrade included mounting of Israeli Elta-made multimode fire control radars and Derby beyond-visual-range air-to-air missiles.

Indian Navy performs Farewell Ceremony for the Sea Harrier

This might come as a setback for some people who hoped that Harrier will continue operations onboard the Navy's future LHDs. As I said, both Viraat and it's air-wing will be retired and will never return to combat service, in any form. They are simply too goddamn old and there are much better alternatives currently available.

Too bad, Mr. Bharat Karnad, you're idiotic ideas to beat this dead horse further have been dashed, and logic and reasonable thinking has finally prevailed.

https://bharatkarnad.com/2016/01/30/navys-carrier-design-blunder-and-future-of-shar-air-wing/

...check out this older response when I challenged his stupid thinking about Viraat the first time around;

Harriers were only recently upgraded with IFR and El-2032s as part of LUSH. What will happen to them? I am sure they are having quite a life left in them.

Here's the 2nd tank that fell into the CISF quarters parking lot at Vizag airport. Mercifully no injuries/damage.
