That is a waste of money!
India is not expecting a war confronting an American offensive force with 6-7 aircraft carriers in next 30 years.
In terms of Chinese, it is more likely a conflict on the land instead of sea.
Even if we send a fleet into Indian Ocean, Indian navy and air force have enough bombers to take care of it.
:truestory: but future is unpredictable.

That's why k15 based missile. It leverages an existing design and can be fired of our nuke subs.

True, the Sagarika needs little mods to do this, already the missile has accuracy of around 30-40 m, once mated with the G3OM GPS reciever + an active radar seeker for terminal guidance + a two way data link to work with Mig-29Ks, P-8I and other Naval recon assets, the sagarika can easily be used to take out large destroyers/frigates and carriers; it has demonstrated cruise speeds of over mach 7.5 at altitudes of around 40km, this being quasi ballistic missile, it should be able to perform steep dives at speeds over mach 8, this would onliterate a carrier.

Since no country has limitless funding, you certainly have to bet on the future with greater possibility.
Task force 74 was in Bay of Bengal with a nuclear blackmail in 1971, at that time India with Aircraft Carriers brought from UK had a high probability of a faceoff either with Task Force 74 or the original seller Royal Navy if not the Soviet had not come to the rescue, certainly greater possibilities is a welcome but still India is not a NATO:truestory: but certainly an enemy of their major non NATO ally :heh:

It would be a quasi-ballistic-quasi-cruise missile

Ballistic trajectory in boost and coast phases, cruise trajectory in terminal phase. Would have active radar homing warhead with a CEP of <5m.

No need Mr. Chandra. You are wasting money and time including talent.

Chinese aircraft carriers can be sunk by Brahmos more precisely at 500 KM distance.

China has to fight US navy and its aircraft carrier, a different ball game, they need missiles with 1500 KM range. I do not believe Chinese tests done on land on a fixed model of an aircraft carrier. Situation at sea is different. Moreover US has experience in hiding its fleet and that would make the missile useless.

But in hindsight, i want US and China fight or threaten each other. It serves the purpose of peace in Asia. When China is fighting US, its economy would suffer, with minimal impact on US, then rest of Asia sleep in peace.

1> Brahmos range is not 500km, it's 290km
2> AShBM has area denial capability upto 2000-2500km
3> China is building 10 ACs, out of which minimum 4 would be in IO/BoB/AS.

Brahmos range is classified but certainly not the ridiculous 290 km.
K15 based AShM can only do 1500 -1800 km currently. I doubt it will be installed on any surface ships. Just too big and visible.
China will not waste money on 10 AC's that will be sitting ducks for USN, JSMDF and IN. Not for the next 3 decades atleast.

They are building 4 with plans of 6 or so.

1> Brahmos range is 290km, any higher figures are only product of fertile imagination.
2> AShBM are land based, not mounted on ships.

Can you please elaborate? Which technology is this exactly?

This is a technology by which a Ballistic missile is used to target aircraft carrier groups or ships.

if you have any queries related to this, please go ahead and ask.

A salvo of Brahmos or shaurya or even a modified prithvi(dhanush) which have much better cep than any Chinese missile would Would be effective in denying access.

AShM that is land based is useless. Brahmos on a mobile ship is far superior

Brahmos or Shaurya can be intercepted based on Heat signature.

The disadvantage of Brahmos is its heat signature (unless DRDO comes up with implementing a glide phase switching off the turbofan and also some deceptive maneuvers )which will make it a bigger target to intercept. But AsBM can be a MIRV which can be used to target more than one ship at hypersonic speeds, very hard to intercept.

Pay load wise AshBM can carry much higher pay load to hit the carrier group, with out using nukes.
