Indian Army will fail in Kashmir: Imran Khan

Lahore: Cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan led a massive gathering of his supporters in Lahore as he sought to galvanise his fledgling Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf party by raking up the issue of the rights of Kashmiris and seeking withdrawal of Indian troops from Jammu and Kashmir.

The rally near the Minar-e-Pakistan monument, which was attended by over 100,000 people, was aimed at projecting Khan as a serious contender in Pakistan's political arena ahead of the 2013 general election.

Over the past few months, Khan's party has sought to enlarge its support base in Punjab, the country's most populous province.

Khan's nearly 50-minute speech largely focussed on the problems and challenges facing Pakistan, including corruption and crippling power outages, but he used the occasion to take up several populist issues, including the Kashmir dispute.

"I want to tell Hindustan that the 700,000 troops you have kept among the Kashmiris. No army has been able to solve any country's problems at any time," he said to cheers from his supporters.

"Did the Americans succeed in Afghanistan? Is the Indian Army more powerful than the US Army? When the Americans couldn't succeed, how can you succeed with 700,000 troops that are involved in excesses?" he alleged.

Khan, whose party did not participate in the last general election and fared poorly in previous polls, called on India to give "Kashmiris their rights and call back the troops".

He said his party would "stand with the Kashmiri brothers and speak for their rights at all forums".

He said the rally marked the culmination of a movement begun 15 years ago by the Pakistan Tehrik to tackle the country's problems, including corruption, inflation, rising prices, lack of education, unemployment and an energy crisis.

I think he is trying to garner support for his political party by doing what Zia ul Haq did - fanning passions.

IMO, He also knows all the facts and our capability but he said just for Public consumption in public rally. Sometime, he makes no sense but he has to say certain things due to political reason.

How many votes is he going to gain with his Kashmir centric speech? He should focus his energy in transforming his nation in to a peaceful and economically progressive nation. Let India take care of its states. We will also take care of IOK(illegally Occupied Kashmir) under the control of enemy nation. He has to tell the truth about IOK situation to his people. It is time to stop playing PakhandBaji and practise what you preach.

Any body who has his email address please put it on the forum.

they all do it, dont they?

picture in benazir, the woman who pretty much started "jihad" in kashmir, what happened? nawaz sharif tried it, he in fact did the most audacious act of all, kargil, burnt his hands, what happened? musharraf after the coup would chest thump, he walked out of the agra summit with tons of arrogance, what happened?

and this closet jihadi feels he can take away kashmir?

why do i sense he too will have his tail between his legs once he takes to office, that is if he ever was to?

its a pakistani trait, first they bark, but they realise its all futile, then they soon learn to be timid!

The more things change in Pakistan, the more they remain the same.

No matter how good the leader seems initially, and how inclined towards peace and development, eventually he goes for anti-India and "Kashmir freedom" rhetoric.

That is why I say, stop this Aman ki Asha bullshit. No matter what happens, we will have an anti-India Pakistan on our hands. Prepare to deal with it.

Poor performance of his political party has forced him to use so called Kashmir Issue as a tool to gather support, lol getting public support in Pakistan is same as buying foods from the supermarket, the more you puke falsely against India specially in the matter of Islamiyat and Kashmir, the more support you get

@ Imran Khan ,
Indian Army could have solved Kashmir Issue early in 1947 . But your good luck that , PM of India was not ready to solve it at that time .

As on today , Indian Army , is ready to solve it , but my bad luck that , PM of India is not ready today .

Imran using kashmir issue for his own political interest nothing to do with people of pakistan or kashmir but just agenda and game playing politics for the election

Let's not be too overconfident.
We need to replace numbers with transport system, quantity with quality.
AFSPA with improved suveillance and intelligence.
And stop entertaining the pious hope that we can wing by staying inside our own forts, offensive arsenal to scare Pakistan to rethink its policy of sending over miscreants across the border, or better yet, go broke in trying to catch up.

I agree with your views and deal we must by initiating covert operation in IOK(Illegally Occupied Kashmir) and expand in other parts of Pakistan as well. I will have to look into the terrain of whole J & K to comment further.

What we need in India at this time is new outlook for the future of India in every department of administration. There has to be complete overhaul of the ways business is being conducted. If you do not mind please contribute your views in a thread "What would you do upon becoming PM of India".

Yeah - maybe he should start reading newspapers from his own country ...

India’s economic surge brings hope to Kashmir Valley | Business | DAWN.COM

But if the steady stream of 25 to 30 youth who show up at the office each day looking for jobs is any gauge, the rapid growth of India's giant economy is finally exerting a pull on the troubled Kashmir Valley, the heartland of a 22-year revolt. ......

Hotels and the famed houseboats on the mirror-calm Dal lake framed by snowcapped mountains are booked for weeks even though new ones such as the Taj chain's luxurious Vivanta have opened.

The streets are blocked with traffic, the shops are filled with customers bargaining for everything from carpets to walnuts, and you could for a moment think you are in an Indian city with its babel of languages from Bengali to Gujarati rather than a disputed region at the heart of 60 years of unremitting hostility between India and Pakistan.
