Ashok Leyland Defence Systems (ALDS), part of Hinduja Group flagship Ashok Leyland, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation with Rosoboronexport (ROE), Russia, and an Indian firm ELCOM Group, to provide tracked vehicle solutions to Indian armed forces

Is this for BMP-2 upgrade? What other tracked vehicle are they planning to peddle?
Someone update Wikipedia for Dhruv.

We have CLGM for Arjun MBT and as standalone ATGM. Its still under development.

Not sure about the range of SPIKE we would be getting. But its been pitted against JAVELIN system, so it should be anywhere in between 1.5 km to 8 km. We could also go fro SPIKE NLOS too in later phase.
Based on the heavy mount pictured in the Israeli article it would be Spike ER. To go for such a missile is direct competition to Prospina as they would mount them on light vehicles.

one difference is ;
4g works on two moters......one that put missile in air and then other to push it with force towards target.....

The generations of RPGs are as follows:

1st gen - simple controlled RPG, controlled by joystick and radiowaves like in vido games
2nd gen - wire controled laser guided whereby the shooter has to point at the target with a laser and the rocket homes in
3rd gen - seeker based fire and forget missile. Lahat, Spike, NAG etc are of that category.
4th gen - data link both ways to change target in mid course. It is in Helina version of NAG.

It is Israel that is naming wrongly.

Spike MR is not a shoulder launched ATGM and is hence quite cumbersome. I am not sure why India selected it at all. Shoulder launched missile was more important. Spike is a tripod launched missile. It requires one person to carry the tripod, one to carry the launcher and a missile and another one or two to carry more missiles

sirjee, SPIKE done deal.
there was a deficit in the operational preparedness of IA around 6 years ago w.r.t ATGM as per the current times.
2.5 years ago deal was finalised.
2 months ago manufacturing plant is also ready to build it in Hyderabad.
if not for useful anywhere else, we will use it for paki bunker busting. that's for sure.

end of story. no point in going back.

NAG can be discussed since it is still in developmental stage.

Once I learned it was Spike MR, the point was lost.
SPIKE would be used across LOC and LAC along with other infantry troops, whereas NAG is solely for desert warfare and offensive strike capability on rapid deployment in short.

Spike ER is 35 kg and range is 8km while NAG is 45 kg with range of 4km. How is it meaningful?

SPIKE ER is air launched version. HELINA is to be compared with it. HELINA does have a range of 8 to 10 km.
NAG as a whole is a bigger missile then anything in SPIKE family. Moreover SPIKE does have a Tandem HEAT warhead of 4 kg whereas NAG does have double the punch at 8 kg.
