It is not only the intake of food that reduces, but you feel sick at the sight of food and every thing appears unpalatable!

Imagine people not wanting Almonds, Pine Nuts, Cashewnuts, Raisin Brown, Salted Ground Nuts, Cadbury chocolate bar, Tetra pack Fruit Juice, Cherry, Pineapple etc!

15 gms of Cheese cube/ cheese spread is also a part of the daily ration.

Even such savories like Rossogollas/ Rabri Mix are on the ration.

That's the stuff given in High Altitude!
What about Jalebi ,Allo Ke Parathe,

Kunal,

Given the size of the containers, they are the JCOs' Mess photos.

Right?

Which Sabji
Indian Army Cookhouse Menu or fancily written as 'Daily Fare' is always vague.

It is

Chawal
Roti
Sabzi

When as a Company Commander I insisted that more details of what is the Dal or Sabzi, the answer of the Langer Commander was 'Kuch Pata nahin kia CQMH issue karega'.

In a way he was right since the Menu was made in advance for the week and one did not know what would be issued!

In the IA, we always dot our 'i's and cross out 't's, but we don't know what type of ink we are using - Quink or Camel!

Those patilas are too small to feed 120 people of the company!

Sir, presently this is the size...
Well not in my unit which I visited in March 2012.

But we must be different because we are a PVC Battalion ! ;)

And surprisingly, unlike the photo, the patilas were never in Stainless Stee.

Though in the JCOs' Mess they were having been bought by the JCOs' through their Mess cuttings.

Wouldn't it be easier and tastier on the field if lunch or dinner is just the following:

> Stew with all vegies (+ chicken for the non-veg folks, on daal base for the veg folks) - High vitamin, minerals and protein
> Chapati/Half pound bread/Rice - Carbohydrates
> Slab of raisin and nut cake - High calorie
> Alternatively Fruit or Fruit juice - To round off the whole nutrition group

No need of Masalchis grounding away at spices, no complex cooking... Everything comes together in a single pot.

Lust look at some pictures... Aren't they lip smacking?

Veg Stew

Chicken Stew

Raisins and Nuts cake slices

Fruits and Juices

Another thing I figured out during high altitude trekking...

After a long trek, there is nothing as enjoyable or rejuvenating as a mug of hot soup followed by a energy bar.

Simple recipe:
> Take 1 mug of boiling water
> Crumble in 1 Maggi Chicken Cube
> Pour in 2 sachets of tomato ketchup
> Stir well and drink up

Made me warm all over even with -15 wind chill and 2ft of snow!
