It would be logical to replace majority of these 105mm guns replaced with 155MM M46 and M777..

    And more PJ-10 ..

First thing we should know there are two categories to show chamber volume :

    1. 23 liter volume Chamber
    2. 25 liter volume Chamber

From same length of guns >>

    A. Smaller Chamber will have lesser charge ( Gun powder bag ) inside, Lesser Charge means less power & less ability to endure hi-pressure, less power = less range..

    B. Bigger Chamber will have more charge inside, bigger charge means more power & higer ability to endure more pressure inside chamber, More power = more range..

Why Army should go with the 155/45 version of GCF, when 155/52 is available that too of superior technology & quality.

With 109 years history GCF could not provide a decent 155/55 Gun in all versions than what is the use of 109 years experience just giving employment only or licence manufacturing on Bofors ToT.

TATAs going to find it very tough to sell their gun to IA , when these GCF kind employee strike starts coming. IA may be compelled to buy the GCF stuff of whatever standard or quality.

The Problem is tender, All 52cal guns towed, wheeled, tracked have to go through competition / trails and will take 3-5 years least..

Where as 155/ 45 cal is ready for production, will be available within months..

More the guns better it is..

I strongly feel that we should get as many guns as both can make, be it on truck, on armor, wheel, or towed or even light weight for mountains.
Get what ever they can get in 155/45 or 52 with MRSI and network centrik capabilities. We have to think in terms of two front war and right now we cant fight even single front war, with existing guns.

    Please read this
So their is scope for both the guns. Let them deliver as fast as possible. GOI can afford both types of guns. But both TATA and OFB have to work together so that both will have common parts and ammo.

How come ammo can be common when the guns are of different caliber? I do not see any possibility TATAs & OFBs are going to work together, as TATAs & OFBs work with entirely different approach technologically as well as professionalism. Though DRDO & TATAs joint working may be possible but DRDO seems to be working with ARDE.

On the other hand when IA is looking for the standardization caliber of 155/52, I do not see GCF has much role to play except giving employment & adding more years to their 109 years experience.

Ammo is same, What is different is the charge bags quantity as per Chambers..

M107 HE round is fired form all kind of 155mm gun but its range vary from different types 155mm /39,45,52 of 23/25 liter chambers guns..
