Now that towed and self propelled artillery programs are moving relatively smoothly, mortars of the army warrant some attention.

It is about time to convert some 120mm units to self-propelled, especially the ones belonging to RAPID divisions. Also, a lighter 81mm could be god sent for average jawan.

In same slideshow, I see one Dhanush as well. So, Dhanush is also participating.

well i dont know for sure, it is matter between ELBIT and KALYANI , i believe KALYANI will have the IPs or atleast the relevant technological know how , private companies don't invest money without rock solid guarantees.

The babus who are making meaningless RFI and RFP need to be stop, Otherwise they will never let induct something like ATAGS, These people will stop at nothing unless they get their cuts or their power-line cut from their service ..

Why did this particular senior defence officer, or any other for that sake, bring disgrace to the uniform by getting involved in such wheeling and dealing is what we need to look at. Next they should try to mate the Bharat 52 gun to Arjun chassis to make our own catapult system and if Bharat forge comes with ultra light gun ala m777 it should also be mated to T-90 chassis to make tracked gun, like we're importing Samsung's k-9, this will make are artillery import free.

M-46 Catapult:

The M-46 Catapult is a self-propelled gun developed in India by Combat Vehicles Research and Development Establishment of DRDO. It is based on the conversion of ageing British/Indian Vijayanta tank's hull mounted with Russian 130mm M-46 field gun.

A total of 170 M-46 Catapult systems were built and are now being phased out from active service being replaced by 4,000 new 155 mm self-propelled howitzers.
