Are you saying that these are not C-17s? The hatred for media under Modi is reaching new heights.
Plz go through the hashtag.
Hindustan times also published NAG ATGM news with AGNI-V pic.

Because funds available with IAF are very limited when comparing with the requirements of IAF.
NG HAS are not on priority of IAF.
Right now, IAF wants to replace oldies and squadron increment.

IAF HAS can easily handle ~1000 lb bombs.

Thanks. It explains a lot. So is this a NG HAS or something else? The manufacturer says it's HAS but you know how websites can be inaccurate. Or is it an oldish model HAS with some tweaks?

According to me, NG HAS is nothing more than a enclosed reinforced hanger with SAM systems.
And as far as I know, all IAF bases have moderate SAM systems and forward bases have priority SAM systems.

Apparently the NG HAS doubles strength to resist 1000kg bomb. Curious to know if that one is an IAF NG HAS or simply an older one. Will keep searching.

IAF To Build 108 Next Gen Hardened Aircraft Shelter (HAS) That Can Withstand 2000 Pound Bomb Hit..!!!

With militarily active borders on both sides of the country, Indian Air Force proposes to construct 108 new generation hardened aircraft shelters at a cost of more than Rs 5,000 crore to protect its fighter fleet.
The hardened blast panes are meant to safeguard the frontline Su-30MKI, Jaguars, Mirages and the upcoming Rafale aircraft from 2,000- pound enemy bombs in case of a war. Each of these shelters, sources told DH, could cost more than Rs 50 crore as they would be made up of reinforced concrete, would be having iron doors and maintenance facilities.

Blast panes are integral part of a military air field where combat aircraft are kept during the war to save the metal birds from enemy bombs and missiles. The existing IAF shelters are capable of withstanding a blast from a 1,000-pound bomb. The new generation panes will be designed to withstand the hit by a 2,000-pound bomb, which the IAF apprehend the enemies may be possessing.

Besides, these shelters would be large enough to accommodate the big Su-30 MKI aircraft and will have proper maintenance facilities. They would also be fitted with iron doors to minimise the chances of fragmentation damage from a missile strike.

While the proposals are under the consideration of the defence ministry since 2015, sources said the air headquarters had made a fresh pitch for its approval given the rapidly changing security dynamics in India’s neighbourhood.

Construction of hardened blast panes is a key part of the IAF’s plan to improve the infrastructure of its air fields particularly for the bases in the North East and Leh.
Two other components of the plan is to improve the infrastructure in Nyoma and Kargil airfield so that more fighter flying is possible near India’s border with China and Pakistan, respectively.

Well, if we make something like that... I'd be delighted. That is a NATO standard HAS. Superb design.

IAF and MoD needs to speed up MII Rafale order and dump F16 in trash where it belongs.

Once we have enough number of Rafale we can put all our focus on 5th gen fighter.

Anyone in MoD who is pushing for F16 is compromising national security. I didn't expect this from BJP.

Tejas
Rafale
AMCA

End of story.

http://quwa.org/2017/07/06/pakistan-announces-5th-gen-fighter-male-uav-programs/

So it seems that Pakistan is planning BIG to overhaul PAF with new birds. Maybe 5th gen otherwise 4++ gen. Maybe both.

What in the world are we doing? Why IAF and MoD aren't on same page? Why are we even talking about MII SE when user has rejected that idea. Who is going to fly those planes during war, politicians or pilots? So who should we listen to?

Buying military hardware shouldn't be a political decision. IAF has made their choice clear. Why MoD is dragging their feet?

We have already lost air supremacy to PLAAF now please don't embarrass us against PAF.

Probably when our birds will drop from sky, IAF and MOD can come to terms, but by then ... GAME OVER MAN, GAME OVER.
