pakistan ke waaaste F-18 hi le lo , kuch to lo:smash::smash::smash::smash::smash::smash:

you cant ignore the fact. the new grippen has better radar engine weapons load capacity than LCA mark 2

Saab is ready for TOT. and make in india

come out of false izzat and pride and accept the fact that arjun and LCA is waste
Nah.

Arjun and LCA are not waste, for sure.

But at the same time not happy with over dependence on HAL's LCA also.

IAF needs more aircrafts, that too in shortest time.

More Russian aircrafts won't help bcz of technical issues , artificially high price tags and corruption.

More French aircrafts won't suit bcz of extremely higher price tags for every thing.

Indian Air Force begins hunt for smart airfield security system

The air force’s western air command has asked Indian companies to bid for the pilot project that would then be replicated at air bases across the nation.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Air Force has initiated its search for a new smart airfield protection system eight months after the Pathankot attack exposed several chinks in the perimeter security at a vital airbase, leading to the death of seven security personnel and a close call for fighters and helicopter gunships stationed there. To start with, the IAF will carry out a pilot project at one of its bases with state of the art systems that will include a smart fence, surveillance systems, thermal cameras, motion detectors and acentral control and command centre.
By air force estimates, it will need to spend over $1 billion on securing its most vital air bases after a security audit post the Pathankot attack pointed to the need for upgraded defences at 54 major bases across the country. The air force's western air command has asked Indian companies to bid for the pilot project that would then be replicated at air bases across the nation. "IAF intends to procure an Integrated Perimeter Security System (IPSS) for one of the IAF base as a pilot project," an air force document reads, adding that it needs an Indian company to "Supply, Install,Test, Integrate and Commission (SITIC) all the equipment / sub-systems to provide a composite surveillance picture embedded with video analytics to generate decision making solutions".

ET had reported in February that a security audit ordered by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar within days of the Pathankot attack recommended a comprehens ive upgrade for perimeter defence at all bases. It also recommended a smart surveillance systems, drones, and advanced intrusion detection systems. An air force official said that the cost could come out to be between " Rs 5,400 - 8,100 crore in the first phase".
The air force is also planning to raise new troops to guard the bases besides procurement of surveillance and anti-intrusion systems. Post the attack, the air force also moved an anti-encroachment drive to free up the perimeter of its installations and for strict implementation of the ban against constructionwithin 100 metres of its bases.

MoD’s $223-bn plan for purchase of fighter jets, submarines, warships
In a major shift to ramp up military readiness, the Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has prepared an ambitious plan to spend some $233 billion over the next 11 years on buying or producing new equipment, including warships, fighter jets, submarines, aircraft carriers and some 500 helicopters.

The sum of $223 billion dollars translates into some Rs 15,00,000 crore (Rs 15 lakh crore) and is projected as part of the financial requirements for the long-term integrated perspective Plan (LTIPP) for the period 2012-2027.

The MoD seeks an annual 8 per cent hike in existing capital spending that allocated in each year’s budget for new military equipment meant for the Army, Navy and the Indian Air Force (IAF).

Under the ambitious plan, the MoD has set a target, including induction of an additional 170 fighter jets for the IAF, 12 additional submarines, 500 various types of helicopters, additional artillery guns and tanks for the Indian Army and another indigenous sea-borne aircraft carrier.

Though the plan looks very big, the MoD seeks a gradual and assured hike. The capital spending for the present fiscal ending March 31, 2017 is Rs 86,340 crore (approx $12.69 billion). The entire planned hike for the next 11 years will average out to an annual spend of $20.27 billion.

The move comes after Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar asked the Ministry to layout the financial cost of the military equipment acquisition planned and bring it ‘within sync’ of the existing average hikes possible in the Union Budget. “An annual hike of 8 per cent for capital spending is within sync of the anticipated hikes that for now vary on a year-to-year basis,” sources said.

The LTIPP lists out the equipment that is needed but it did not have the detailed cost of each thing. LTIPP already has a Technology Perspective Capability Road Map (TPCRM) to enable the DRDO, Defence Public Sector Unit and the private industry to plan their research and development.

The LTIPP lays down the expected contingencies of the services and what would be the response. It lists capabilities and expected time frames. Further how these options would be achieved whether by indigenous development or by procurement from aboard.

In the case of targets form copters, submarines, fighter jets, warships and aircraft carrier, the plan is ‘Make in India’. Various joint ventures are being encouraged with foreign manufacturers.

The MoD has also laid down a plan to cut on unnecessary expenditure by clubbing together procurement of three services to prevent duplication of efforts and wasteful expenses.

US Air Force optimistic about defence cooperation with India
The US Air Force is optimistic about the future of co-developing and co-producing defence systems with India, US Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James has said after her trip to the country.

“We are excited about our part of the Defence Technology Trade Initiative (DTTI). Between discussion in working groups and the growing presence of US defence industry in India, we are optimistic about the future of co-developing and co-producing defence systems,” James said in a statement on Tuesday. During her three-day stay in New Delhi, James met with top defence personnel including Secretary of Department of Defence production, Ashok Kumar Gupta, Indian Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha and Indian Vice Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Birender Singh Dhanoa.

“My discussions with Secretary Gupta and Air Chief Marshal Raha were incredibly helpful advancing our relationship. The Indian and US Air Forces have a history of cooperation corner-stoned by the interoperability between our C-130J and C-17 fleets. We look forward to continuing dialogue as India modernises its fighter fleet,” she added. Air Force cooperation was greatly enhanced with the IAF’s participation in the Red Flag exercise in Alaska early this year and the Indian-hosted COPE India will provide another opportunity in the next year or so, she said.

James also met with members of the American Chamber of Commerce in India and attended a lunch hosted by US Ambassador to India Richard Verma with leaders vital to US-India relations.

She was accompanied by Deputy Under Secretary of the Air Force for International Affairs Heidi Grant. The US Embassy’s Naval Attache, Capt Jason Gilbert, also attended the meetings.

Fundamental question :

Has DTTI yielded any results(deals being made) so far? Putting it over here because of the drones.

If drone deal does not happen in next 2 months, won't be done for another 1.5 years minimum.
