India, US agree on civil aviation cooperation - India Business - Business - The Times of India

Some good news on the Indo US relations front. After all the negative things that we have been hearing on various issues.
Trade is the biggest puller between any countries, and more so with the US. If it sees the greenback, it will bend over backwards to accommodate one and all.

Indeed the Indian aviation sector can really benefit from the US help. While Airbus may have the A-380 it's still unwieldy and too big for many airports in developing countries and is experiencing delays in delivery. The real crowd puller is the Boeing Dreamliner and the next generation of 747's the 747-8.

Not only is it a the question of just buying planes by various Indian airlines, its the whole gamut of civil airline industry that can benefit from cooperation between India and US. It includes maintenance, spares, training etc.
Boeing has already done quite a bit in India. Has a JV with Tata, is setting up training facilities etc.
Besides that, US companies can look to outsource manufacturing of components for their planes at a lower cost. Indian companies are already writing software for them.
All this will have a big impact on Indian Aerospace industry which is already growing with a lot of private enterprise taking it up.
