India may not join US-led global coalition against ISIS.
    PTI | Sep 27, 2014

NEW YORK: With 40 of its nationals still in captivity in Iraq, India may not join the all — out efforts of the US in creating a global coalition against the Islamic State terror group for which President Barack Obama is expected to seek the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

So far, more than 40 countries have joined the US-led international coalition against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) or the Islamic State (IS) as it is better known across the globe.

According to the sources, India, which has been a victim of terrorism and has a very tough stance on the issue, will not be able to overtly go against Islamic State terror group that has gained control over large swaths of Syria and Iraq, where it still has its nationals as hostages.

"Our position is very well known against menace of terrorism. But we have 40 of our nationals who are still in captivity," the sources said.

While India could secure release of its 46 nurses from the captivity of militants, its another 40 nationals, working on projects near the Iraqi city of Mosul were kidnapped by ISIS militants in early June.

Obama, as he has been doing with other global leaders, is expected to urge Modi during their talks in Washington to join the international coalition against the IS terrorist outfit, which if left unchallenged poses a major threat to the security and stability of the region and the world.

The White House, however, has refused to make any comment on the substance of discussion between Obama and Modi on September 29 and 30.

"As we've said, we believe there is a role for all countries to play. Beyond that, I'm not in position to preview the substance of the visit yet," Caitlin Hayden, spokesperson of the National Security Council of the White House, had said.

ISIL militants have executed two American journalists and a British aid worker in Syria, prompting the West to join hands to combat the terror group.

Russia Blocked USA to strike Syria.

So Uncle Sam with its cronies that is Qatar & KSA financed this Islamic State gang to justify sending bombers to eradicate Syrian army position.

Once Syria falls they will have freehand towards Iran, so this will complete their hegemonic designs on the Middle East. Ultimate aim is to dismember Russia and corner China.

US used Afgans and Pakis against USSR and then ran away from Afganistan. The result was Taliban and Al-Qaida. The result was 3000 Americans butchered on their home soil. Then US again attacked AFG and still there and planning to run away leaving a big mess.

US attacked Iraq and resulted in at least 500,000 Iraqis dead and then US ran away. The result is creation of ISIS.How come ISIS came out of nowhere all of a sudden? How come there was no ISIS before US had plans to invade Syria?

Iraq Death Toll Reaches 500,000 Since Start Of U.S.-Led Invasion, New Study Says

So why should India join wars which US has created?

Why US didn't join India in war against Paki terror and why they STILL say without a shame that Paki terrorists(LeT etc) are not against US interests so they can't do anything.

US still has the definition of Good and Bad Terrorists just like Pakis do.

    Good questions.
Some more: In spite of the heavy presence of CIA and related intelligence networks in the ME region, how/why did the ISIS gain so much territory in such short time. Why did US equipment get into ISIS hands ? How does ISIS receive finances (ans: look to other puppets in the ME for finances.)

The West has been sowing the seeds of sectarian violence and infusing the fear in the minds of rulers of the region. The problem is the rulers of the region who want to stay in the seat of power without having any vision of developing the nations into a peaceful and a place where pursuit of gaining knowledge thrives and not the discontent followed by sectarian violence against each other.

It is a wise move by India to stay out of this sectarian violence as has Iran done. They (West) has been trying to drag Iran in to it and they have held firm by not joining it. If they had joined it than KSA along with other poodles would come after Iran. I have held this view for the last few years that these countries are being set to fight each other on a tribal level and if that happens the ultimate objective will be achieved against he upcoming economic power house. It will be done through the oil price shooting up due to conflict in the region which is being imported from the region by the second largest economy of the world. As for as its effect on the Western nation is concerned it will force West to import it from North American sources since Canada has already shipped the first ever such consignment for Europe and USA is ready to do the same from its shale oil fields. How it plays out only time will tell? I hope peace and sense of common goodwill prevails in the brains of regional leadership otherwise the future is bleak.

Very disappointing move by India. Islamic extremism threatens the entire world. Not only should India oppose Islamists and terrorism at every turn, but doing so would bring it much closer and provide much better relations with the west and especially the USA that would be massively beneficial to India.

Fact that there is negligible footprint of Indian Jihadist in Isis is itself a contribution from india. This is happening because of india's ability in controlling the menace at its roots. Given the population of india imagine how many idiots would have joined isis if Indian security apparatus had done nothing. If you see Afghanistan ,india's contribution is in agriculture, police training, education, infrastructure etc. it is not necessary that everybody has to contribute with a gun.

Yes but should Indian foreign policy really be held hostage to any ethnic group or should it serve INDIAN interests. I doubt that simply supporting the war against terror or ISIS would instantly cause a massive uprising against the INDIAN (1st) - Muslims (2nd). The kind of people that would rise up because India is bombing ISIS and Al Queda are the people India should crush in the first place. So why not do what is right for INDIA and promote patriotism among India's Muslims. Be an INDIAN first, or get out of the country.

A valid point but India could do more. Showing a little global solidarity on the war on terror should benefit India as well. Perhaps if India was to step up to the plate and be an engaged global player, the world would step up to the plate and aid India when it came to stamping out terrorists in Kashmir. An alliance against terrorism can only be good for all parties involved and the world as a whole, better India stand for principles and global engagement then hide in its shell afraid of the special interests of any ethnic group that puts religion before patriotism and being Indian.

I see a day where Indian aircraft carriers unload massive bombardments on terrorist organizations in the middle east and the next month American predator drones wipe out extremist camps in Pakistan specifically aimed at India and Kashmir.

True that,i am sure that almost every indian agrees with you. That fact that Doval stayed back in washington after modi's return can be taken as possibility that something is cooking.

If you follow the timing of these incidents such as emergence of ISIS and the statements by Arabistan Maharaja's than you will find the answers to your questions. It is just a starts of bigger things in the pipeline and by the year 2019 the whole region will have transformed into different land than what we see now. One of the major casualty in the future will be KSA.

It's not the West only. Muslims are more responsible for these atrocities. I don't know why they don't show the discipline in their ranks. Let's see what the future brings for them.

In my opinion there is too much emphasis on religion verbally and no real conviction to walk the talk. The tribal societies have been always busy fighting each other with in a nation on the tribal level which creates a cycle of hatred between the tribes and it has to stop to bring about the much needed peace in the region. I appreciate your views in speaking out on this very important issue and accepting the weakness with in your community. I am hopeful that the educated citizens with moderate thinking will be able to bring long lasting transformation.

Yeah Muslims are the most responsible bunch in the whole universe.

They love tearing apart human bodies in the most inhuman way... Islamic style.Even their festivals are based on blood.

Barbarism and Shaitaniyat kept alive since 7th century by a tribal warlord thirsty for blood of kafirs.

    Some graphic example below!
