On an unrelated note, let's keep our train fares ridiculously low.

Based on preliminary reports its seems that one of Lalu Yadav's failed experiments caused difficulties to the passengers trying to escape the fire.

Hope this serves as a wake up call and IR looks into the safety aspect seriously.

New tracks and trains can wait for a couple of years. We do not need a Bullet Train, but we need the money to improve the infrastructure and safety levels of Indian Railways.

Tragic. Rail should be the safest mode of travel.

The train fares were increased for the purpose of safety in last Railway Budget but because of Mamta Bannerjee's populist vote bank politics led to ousting of the Railway minister and also roll back of fares meant for Railway safety. Mamata has blood on her hands.

its a very sad incident.the fire spread very rapidly in running train which gave them less time to react.

there has been repeated promices from railways to replace the normal coir with fire resitant materials but no measures taken that side:mad:
