India needs to focus on Cruise missile Defence (CMD)

We should amand our nuke doctrine and add word that any attempt to nuke us, which is stop by our BMD or CMB we will retilate with massive strike which shall inflect un acceptable damage on attacking country.

So what we actually need to do is to increase the radar coverage in a Network-centric environment which can detect any incoming cruise missile in the shadow areas, then rest of the job can be done by various interceptors or means !?

Idea is to plug the gaps of radar coverage in such a manner that a set of trajectory can not be programmed on a cruise missile and making it virtually impossible for the missile sneak into our airspace through black holes [no radar areas]. This can be possible through multi-layered defense arrangement only .

Saraswat said DRDO is also working on a cruise missile defence programme, which will allow the armed forces to defend against low-flying cruise missiles and enemy aircraft.

For cruise missile defence the tracking it is the most crucial aspect which can be acheived by large number of land based radars,aerostats,awacs and male drones.Once tarcked it can be easily shot down(because of it's slow speed) with land based interceptors or even air to air missiles from a fighter plane.But for ballistic missiles tacking the taget is only the first part because intercepting those high speed warheads hurtling down with a speed of mach20+ requires first grade interceptors which is like hitting a bullet with another bullet.Now drdo has shown us the capability of shooting down ballistic missiles and surely it can deliver on the cruise missile front provided india has sufficient surveillance platform to tack a cruise missile.

What about supersonic & hypersonic CMs? Once China develops it, Pak will also soon have it!

Wasn't Air Force building up chain of aerostats over western region with co-operation from US-Indian JV ? It was in news last year AFAIK. Time to test SAM with more sophisticated target missiles?
