The German press has savaged India’s misgovernance.

An editorial in the highly circulated German national newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine screamed:
    the article further states :-

    .”

Valid points... But this makes India a flawed state...too soon to call it a failed state.

For a moment after reading the above heading, I thought of checking the dates for Oktoberfest and other beer festivals across Germany.

But, the points highlighted are valid.

These western media people are just too biased

When you have a 7 % growth rate you are a darling of the western world

But with 5 % growth you become a failed state

This year inspite of all our problems and weaknesses we will still grow at 5 %

This has to be one of the most idiotic articles i have ever read. You call a country with a 5%GDP growth which is improving in all sectors a failed state! I guess they have changed its definition.India is a country where merit has no value!!!! I am a youngster and I am not in despair and not pushed to take up crime. Some journalists think they can write as they will without knowing the ground realities. I see no despair only a bright future. There are problems. But which country doesn't face problems? We will overcome them and continue our growth story.

Zee German Kompanies are being squeezed, business climate is extremely hostile and the german fat-cats are not getting "their share" of the action....

    basic gist of the article.

Anyone who follows the western media wil notice this trend for e.g:- Britain and the Eurofighter loss/rejection.

5% growth means nothing for a country as poor as India.Actually India's growth projection has been lowered to 4% where as china's gowrth projection has incremented to 7.6%.

Instead of criticizing the german media, just look at what they are saying.....whatever they wrote, isn't that 100% true ?

India may not be a failed state according to technical definition but yes i consider india to be a failed state because even after 66 years of independence it continues to remain an impoverished backward nation where as many other countries which were in the same position as india in 1947 like Taiwan, south korea,China,Japan,Singapore,Mayalsia etc etc have transformed into prosperous countries.

government is not a separate entity...it is made by the people of the country.

The reason why the government is so corrupt is because the Indian society is extremely corrupt.

the german media does in fact raise valid points which are true and must be remedied, but in the same breath it must be criticized for going overboard and drawing the conclusions of labelling india as a failed state by holding us up to THEIR idea of a successful state. do they even care to define what is a failed state in the first place and what yardsticks of judgement are used ? by this analogy if i say that an Audi car which is in SKU condition at the time of export from germany is a "failed car" then how would ze germans react? the Indian nation state is a work in progress, and is a developing state. its idiotic to attach such labels when its clear what its direction of prgress is, vis-a-vis ACTUAL failed states like Pakistan. wonder what their opinions are on Pakistan anyway ? is it a paragon of the modern Islamic nation :p moronic assertions which can be savaged with elementary logic should be exposed for their hollowness.
on top of that here you are, comparing india to countries which have 1/10th of our population, or to China which has a totally different ethos, hitory, and nature of governance which lagged behind us even until the 60`s.

like they say, haters gonna hate !
but given half a choice the people of this country, especially the younger generation would be extremely happy to skip giving even lowlevel bribes to get even the basic govt work done - the SYSTEMS of governance are still of the colonial legacy and need to dismantled, and refashioned for the modern era. the battle of "Swaraj" has been won in 1947 but the fight for "Surraj" has just begun and the first shots were fired in 2010.

India has its fair share of problems, but its not a failed state. How many problems do you genuinely face in your everyday life because of the state? Granted there is corruption but aren't we a part of it too when we give bribes? There have been improvements and lets hope there will be more. Its not the rate of crime that has gone up but the reporting. We should be encouraged that so many cases are being registered. It shows confidence in the system. Many big names are being brought to the book.I dont think the article holds any water.

There are many things going wrong at the moment in India specially the performance of govt but calling it a "failed state" is a UTTERLY IDIOTIC statement and that German source proves it's living in some wonderland.German source should first learn what is a failed state and they can learn by looking at countries like Pakistan,NK,Somalia etc.

That German source should not let it's employees drink too much since they seems to have lost their ability to understand simple things.Seems like their Oktober fest is showing effect early.
