India, Cuba to Co-operate in Oil Exploration: Krishna | news.outlookindia.com

Cuba today invited India to partner it in the exploration of oil and hydrocarbons as External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna arrived here on a "historic" visit to the country.

Krishna started his visit in the Cuban capital by paying homage to the father of the Cuban revolution Jose Marti, by laying a wreath at the Revolution Square.

As his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez termed the visit as "historical", Krishna said there was a special place for the people of Cuba in Indian hearts.

The Cuban Foreign Minister expressed his country's eagerness to cooperate with India in a range of fields, including hydrocarbon exploration.

"Cuba will cooperate with India in the fields of sports, bio-technology and pharmaceuticals, and will highly encourage India to partner in hydrocarbons and oil exploration sectors," he said as the two ministers met for a bilateral.

Krishna is in Havana for a bilateral visit as well as an Indian heads of mission and Ambassadors conference.

"Fidel Castro and the glorious Cuban revolution evoke instant admiration in India. Our relations are historical and based on shared values of equality and justice. There is a special place for people of Cuba in Indian hearts," said Krishna.

The Infamous Firing Squad
Thousands of Cubans have died in front of Castro's infamous firing squad. There was no discrimination, as far as the firing squad was concerned. Young and old, black and white, rich and poor were sent to 'el paredón' (the wall).

Many of those who helped Castro gain power, like Comandantes Ernesto Sori Marin and William Morgan, an American, were among the thousands who were shot.

Krishna might just be doing a sugar coated ego message. MMS once said Prez Bush is loved by all Indians, and there was quite a backlash. It's all a part of the diplomatic rhetoric, not to be taken literally for every word spoken.

If there is oil we can get from Cuba, our oil companies can have stakes in those oil wells and the Cubans are willing partners, so it should be.

A lot of it was BS ranting, but some of it was accurate...
Type in any other country and u will find atrocities by those nations easily. I am actually perlplexed when i searched in google to find any sources to find the US atrocities on the rest of the world. This is the only thing i could find. And today i learned another lesson in information control
