India came close to killing Dawood in Karachi, called off operation after a last minute phone call: sources

New Delhi: Almost a year ago India came very close to eliminating Dawood Ibrahim, the country's most wanted terrorist and accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blasts, who is being shielded by Pakistan. A team of Indian commandos had infiltrated into Pakistan to hunt Dawood and were all set to execute the highly secret operation before they were asked to not carry out the strike.

Indian intelligence agencies have been trying to trace and nab Dawood ever since he fled to Pakistan more than two decades ago after masterminding the biggest terror strike in the country.

But several attempts at extraditing him have failed over the years. Now explosive details accessed by IBN7 suggests India attempted a daring covert operation to eliminate Dawood on Pakistan's territory.

"An operation was planned in 2013 to eliminate Dawood. Nine agents were selected by RAW for the operations. The operatives were given passports of Sudan, Bangladesh and Nepal. The team was called Super Boys," claimed a source.

For the operation, RAW had sought active support from Israel's Mossad and September 13 was chosen as the date of execution, the source said.

According to the source, "Dawood has been living in Karachi for years and every day he travels from his Clipton Road home to the Defence Housing Society. This was the opportunity the 'Super Boys' chose to utilise. A dargah on the way was chosen as the spot for execution. On September 13, 2013, the nine commandos took positions across the road. The commandos not only knew details of Dawood's car but also had a latest video which exposed his present appearance."

But minutes before the execution, the plan was aborted after a mysterious phone call.

The source, however, did not divulge details about the call, who made it and why the plan was aborted. :taun

If this is indeed accurate then why talk about it, it is a direct warning to the enemies. The ISI acts very well once it is warned, future missions will be much harder to accomplish and we won't be able to deny if a future op is a success.

Dumb media people.

This is second time a fake call aborted or allowed the mission. The current is second. The first call came from a fake caller, who identified himself as a high official asked the airport police to let the Hijacked plane at Amritsar to proceed. It ended up in Afghanistan and then the major drama of releasing the two dreaded terrorists from Indian jail.

Somebody in high ups is being paid by ISI of Pakistan to thwart the operation. That means the Indian security cover is broken.

Now it is very clear why Dawood has relocated himself to Afghanistan border in the lawless region. ISI knows that Indian boys will not venture in there.

Point to be noted is the website of the article I.e IBN I.e TV18 I.e Ambani .

Maybe this article is in response to the other article doing rounds regarding TSD of IA.

I am assuming this article is a morale booster of sorts.

Political pressure to catch Dawood has increased

Officials who have been tracking Dawood Ibrahim, who is wanted for his role in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts, said that the political pressure to catch Dawood has increased "substantially" in the recent times.

A senior Intelligence Bureau official, when asked about recent media reports regarding a "failed" operation that was apparently carried out by Indian security officials to kill Dawood last year in Pakistan, neither denied nor confirmed that such an operation was carried out. The official stated that intelligence agencies were working on a definite plan to catch or kill Dawood, "as soon as possible". There is already a red corner notice against Dawood and the United States declared him to be a "specially designated global terrorist" in 2003.

"Dawood has been our number one priority since long, but in the past, the political backing that the present government has been giving us now, was missing. There have been instances in the past where our efforts to capture him were stopped at the last moment, but now that has changed," a senior IB officer said.

Officials also allege that Dawood enjoyed political patronage from two Indian political leaders in the previous government. "Dawood's links with two senior political leaders has been kept under wraps by successive governments. With the new government at helm now, at least now the names of these politicians should be revealed," the official added.

Officials claim that the Ministry of Home Affairs has sufficient evidence against these leaders, collected by various agencies including the IB and the Central Bureau of Investigation.

When the IPL match-fixing scam was discovered last year, at that time too the Delhi police found a strong piece of evidence that linked Dawood to a Union minister who was serving in the then United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government. But at the time too, the details were not made public because of political pressure.

a former secretary level officer, who worked in the MHA, said that the nexus between Dawood and some Indian politicians was an open secret. "The MHA, after the 1993 blasts, gave the Vohra Committee, which was constituted to look into criminal-politician nexus, enough evidence clearly linking Dawood with two very senior politicians. However, when a truncated committee report was finally tabled in Parliament, it did not have any names despite the MHA giving the names of the politicians who had relations with Dawood. Now, when a totally new government is at the Centre I see no reason as to why the entire report cannot be made public by Prime Minister Narendra Modi," he wondered

Political pressure to catch Dawood has increased

I get the feeling this is BS. No one would actually reveal this. If I take it that it was cancelled under political pressure, well, why was it sanctioned in the first place? It could have been a huge boost for the previous govt had it been successful.

Hafiz Saeed roams around openly and dosnt have any nexus with Indian politicians. Why cant RAW go for him? RAW so far has not got any high value targets in Pakistan and I doubt whether they really are capable of pulling off such stunts. Lets hope under Doval and Modi, there will be some improvement.

Insider info!!

The super boys wore capes like superman & scarlet swimming trunks over their dungarees

The operation was called off because Dawood had an upset stomach & was laid up in bed.

Our boys waited but the mission was called off as the paki doctor's prescription read " four days bed rest because of rotten biryani" (old wives tales)

Expect the RAW to carry out a hit on enemy land ??

The top dogs in RAW cant' even spell eliminate /exterminate/ eradicate/ exclude etc

Dawood Ibrahim's conversation caught on tape, location traced to Karachi

New Delhi: Underworld don and the man who tops India's most wanted list Dawood Ibrahim has been caught on tape by a western intelligence agency. The agency has claimed to have recorded a telephonic conversation involving the underworld don, the location of which has been traced to Clifton suburb in Pakistan's Karachi. In the recording, Dawood seems to be having a conversation with someone in Dubai regarding a property deal. Indian External Intelligence Agency has sought the phone recording. Indian intelligence agencies have been trying to trace and nab Dawood ever since he fled to Pakistan more than two decades ago after masterminding the biggest terror strike in the country. Earlier in the year, sources claimed that India came very close to eliminating Dawood in 2013. Unlike what most of the people think, RAW is not bunch of MI6 style agents taking out targets for living. RAW only does analysis & surveillance for most part. Military intelligence is known for neutralizing threats at individual level.

As far as Dawood is concerned, didn't he cut deal with NESA long back?

Modi govt is only loud noise. Its not the Dawood we need to worry about but the damn nefarious web of a network he has built.

MI6 or not RAW gets far more accolades than it deserves from neighbors.
