It will be recalled that the democratically elected President, Nasheed, was in a very dubious manner overthrown.

Waheed took over thereafter and is believed to be actually a front of the dictator Gayoom, who it is believed was the mastermind in overthrowing the democratically elected President, Nasheed.

Nasheed has been more pro India than Gayoom, under whose dictatorship Maldives did tilt towards Pakistan and China and also the influence of the Islamic fundamentalists become sharp and recognisable.

India should tread carefully and analyse the situation with only the Indian national aim and not try to play the great Statesman come to Judgement as is India's wont to be.

    Most interesting.

Indicates the influence that Gayoom has to create mischief.

To imagine the brother of the one installed as the President is against his own brother.

Indicates the murky going ons in Maldive.
