China's threat to Russia is not diplomatic or military..but rather demographics....Hundreds of thousands of illegal chinese migrants move into the vast, mineral rich but sparsely populated Siberia and this is causing a massive demographic shift in favour of the chinese in various outposts along the Far East....In case of any trouble this will be a huge weakness for Russia.

Once the demography changes, the clamour to join China will increase, China will make inroads to 'save' the Chinese there and so we will have another Amur Ussuri River issue.

China is known to precipitate crises and then act coy and spout pious platitudes after gobbling up territory!

As the commentary by the Russian Director of Strategic Studies has said above, China has already undertaken training manoeuvres on an attack on Russia.

Why not replace Russia Far East with Vietnam or USA, which swarm with million of Chinese changing demographic and even economic pattern.

There're 2 sides to the coin in China's relationship with SE Asian neighbors. What abt India in contrast? Other than bitterness what has India done to keep lesser peers on the subcontinent in the orbit around India?

According to latest report from the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), foreign invested projects disbursed an estimated 11 billion U.S. dollars this year, the same as last year's level, of which foreign investors fork out about 8 billion U.S. dollars while the rest coming from Vietnamese partners.

In 2011, China's Hong Kong ranked top among 94 countries and territories investing in Vietnam with newly-registered and expanded capital of 3.09 billion U.S. dollars, followed by Japan with 2.12 billion U.S. dollars and Singapore with 1.58 billion U.S. dollars.

LOL! Forget about protecting Vietnam. When are we going to protect ourselves from China? Maybe people forgot the incidents of Chinese incursions in Ladhak,Sikkim and Arunachal. Not to mention intimidation of our Shepherds in Ladhak, reports of firing in sikkim at the border etc.
Chinese can do the 'incursions' and write something on the rocks on barren Indian land signifying "come and get me" and run back cowardly. If this is all Chinese can do today then it's just
We are countering these with some serious action.Following are some developments from India which is making laughing Chinese into :mad2::-
.
- Total of 120,000 troops (though China has 3 times)
- Two mountain divisions
- More military hardware
- Brahmos deployed
- 2 Sukhoi squardons
- Extra 90,000 troops to be inducted in next 5 years.
- Air strip opened in Ladakh

It is good to see yesterdays paupers browbeating others with the strength of their recently earned dollars.

Hello everybody,

That is too good for me to be here, thank you very much for your Support, Indian.
Vietnamese is not scare China, but we will try to avoid any further wars, We need time and peace to develop our country, we are still very poor!!!.

But to avoid wars, we have to build up our defense capabilities, and we need your helps. and YES, we need to buy some advance weapon like BrahMos, S-300, Su-30, Su-35, Bastion system.... and we also need your help in training to have a well-trained armed forces.

In Vietnam, nobody wants wars but we will fight to the last Vietnamese to protect our mother land. History proof it!

Thank you very much, Indian, our buddy.

Like it or not, Russia is deeply concerned about the Chinese interests and growing influence in Russia's far East.

The inter nation marriages are increasing too.

Russia cannot forget the Amur Ussuri river conflict either.

As far as India and her neighbours are concerned, the acrimony is not that deep as China's acrimony with its neighbours.

India has improved relationship with Sri Lanka and also Bangladesh.

Sri Lankan President has publicly stated that India is always first as far as SL is concerned. There is a thread started by Heinz Gud to that effect.

The only bone of contention is Pakistan. They are exporting terrorism. It is a different matter that Pakistan is exporting terrorism to China too in Xinjaing and China is not very vociferously denouncing the same.

Yes, China is there to protect Vietnam.

The only problem is that the Vietnamese don't share that view!

The USA is not interested in putting its fingers in any more pies.

India has 'usage' for Vietnam and vice versa.

The kingdom of Champa (Campadesa or nagara Campa in Cham and Cambodian inscriptions written in Devanagari as चंपा;Chăm Pa in Vietnamese, 占城 Chiêm Thành in Hán Việt and Zhàn chéng in Chinese records) was an Indianized kingdom that controlled what is now southern and central Vietnam from approximately the 7th century through to 1832.

That is the connection.

Vietnam and Indians are long lost brothers!

We are strong enough to protect ourself. And we are glad to receive any disinterested help from true friends. Looking back the past, we know who are our true friends.
