Imperative to give the right response to challenging threat of cyber terrorism: Ajit Doval

New Delhi: National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on Tuesday laid stress on the threat of cyber terrorism, describing it as one of the biggest challenges facing the world on Tuesday, and added that it is imperative to give the right response to this looming threat.

"One of the biggest challenges is to give right type of response to the threat of invasion of cyber security. The response has to be at various levels, at the level of civil society, individuals, corporate and business houses. It has got to be at the level of governments, and at the levels of the various security groups who have to find technological answers to the problem," Doval said during his address atthe Munich Security Conference organised by the Observer Research Foundation.

Doval added, "This is a type of threat which no country will individually be able to deal and tackle. In cyber space somebody can invade your privacy, the safety of your weapon systems, defence systems, critical infrastructure, governance, locomotives, aircrafts and power generation. Everything can be targeted by a person who is totally out of your reach."

He also said that the type of capabilities the terrorists have acquired is 'mind boggling'.

The MSC, in partnership with the Indian Observer Research Foundation, hosted a meet which focused on global and regional security challenges, including the conflict in the Middle East and the situation in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of foreign troops.

Around 70 senior decision makers from politics, business, media and civil society from India and the Euro-Atlantic, Asian and Middle-East regions came together to discuss key issues of international security policy. The conference ends on Wednesday.
