Actually, you need. you want to keep an edge over a long time rival in the region. Meanwhile, you need to maintain a
sufficient national defence spending to please your military.Last but not least, you need to use modern weaponery
to showcase your economic progress and enventually to boot your national morales.

All are politics, not necessary a real China Threat, but a Made in India China Threat.
I think you need to educate yourself on the acquisitions India has made and worry more about
China's modernization.

The politicians can say whatever they want. if the Chinese invade every single asset available will be used barring the atomic arsenal.

The IAF would be used to destroy bridges, command and control, etc. in order to slow down any advance. It would also be used to engage the PLAAF.

Sir what exactly are you trying to say

IAF was extensively used in Kargil and without IAF we would nt have been ever able to evict the
intruders

And the Indian casualties would have been 10 times more

India should make the any possibility of war in the contested areas with China so costly so that the latter will seriously pause to think a lot of times before trying to do what it is doing in the SCS. To this end the full force of the IAF should always be at the frontline in case of a flare-up. The moment China sees the Indian military or any of its branches hesitating is the moment that it will push harder against India. With all its defence ties with Israel the India military should know by now that all options must always be on the table against its enemies for maximum deterrence.

BTW, without air cover Indian troops on the ground will be at the mercy of Chinese air forces.

In the present day, it is utter foolishness if IAF is not used in any conflict with any country. IMHO, dont want our present leadership to delay over this. We have the three services for a reason and IAF plays a major role among the three in bolstering and supporting the other twos' war efforts as well it's own offensive action. 1962 is a strategic mistake and a blot in our famed history. Unfortunately, our butter knee govt has not learned from that mistake and delayed during Kargil. Hope that at least now we have better decision makers who do not fiddle to take strategic decisions.

Before asking me, do a conclusive study of the War, Then make a re-butt over my post ..
IA suffered indeed 10 times more causalities which could have been avoided ..

--------->>

1. First two months of War, There was no air-cover as MOD restricted its usage ..
2. When losing an MI-17, IAF stopped all its air-operations for next few weeks ..

Most casualties caused during these periods ..

=======================
=======================

True said here, IA infrastructure to resupply is same as was in 1962 more or less, Let it be re-supply or CAS and Air-superiority its all IAF ..

IA can only breath and work if IAF supply them and provide needed CAS, Without IAF its just matter of day that we may lose most of the ground ..
