But even if not part of IAF, then Then it would 3 Phalcon (already operational) + 3 DRDO AWACS which will be operational in next couple of years. 2 New phalcon was ordered recently and it won't come before 2015.

No, dont tell me IAF ordered 5 awacs fitted in IL-76 and one in G550.

He mentioned the word acquiring so imo it is from Israel not from DRDO. We will buy around 20 awacs from DRDO.

IAF operates the G-550 for ELINT roles and not as an AWACS and it is based at Palam AF station.
