My favorite but I don't know any info about it.........
The Consolidated PBY Catalina was an American flying boat of the 1930s and 1940s produced by Consolidated Aircraft. It was one of the most widely used multi-role aircraft of World War II. PBYs served with every branch of the United States Armed Forces and in the air forces and navies of many other nations. In the United States Army Air Forces and later in the United States Air Force their designation was OA-10. A Canadian-built PBY would be familiarly called a Canso.

During World War II, PBYs were used in anti-submarine warfare, patrol bombing, convoy escorts, search and rescue missions (especially air-sea rescue), and cargo transport. The PBY was the most successful aircraft of its kind; no other flying boat was produced in greater numbers. The last active military PBYs were not retired from service until the 1980s. Even today, over 70 years after its first flight, the aircraft continues to fly as an airtanker in aerial firefighting operations all over the world.

The initialism of "P.B.Y." was determined in accordance with the U.S. Navy aircraft designation system of 1922; PB representing "Patrol Bomber" and Y being the code used for the aircraft's manufacturer, Consolidated Aircraft.

"Two Catalinas appeared on the Indian civil register during the 1950s. Little is known of either operator, although the aircrafts themselves are reasonably well documented.
The first to arrive was owned by Kalinga Airlines of Calcutta, a company that also flew C-47s. Their Catalina VT-DEX was registered to them in December 1950, having previously operated in Hong-Kong. It cannot have spent very long in India as, by the end of 1951, it was at Croydon Airport in England as SE-XAD, being overhauled for a new owner in Sweden.
The other Indian PBY was VT-DID. This was registered to Airways (India) Ltd in 1955 and stand with them until August 1961, when it was damaged beyond repair in an accident on the 22nd of that month. It had previouvly been registered in China and Thailand."

Why IAF???

It should be IN that should be interested in this. Any thing that is amphibious should be with Army or Navy.

Coco islands (South) is ours isn't it? The northern set belongs to Burma and it is already cleared. The disputed term is simply mentioned in general in case someone fancies playing disputing games with us. We don't have any disputes with Burmese (who are the only players to contend in the region). Just a few with Beggarimmigrantdesh, the Land of Pure and Reds.
