The BrahMos-II is expected to have a range of 600 km. The missile is expected to be ready for testing by
Once again, this exceeds the official/semi-official range portrayed by Russians i.e. 400 km by a huge margin. Atleast this time both India & Russia won't have to go through pretense of "MTCR complaint".

Another interesting thing I read was that Russia intends to use the existing KLUB VLS for Zircon and will similar weight and dimensions. If true, it might end up in ALCM role.

Why those two giant BrahMos is different in appearance?
You mean the nose cap, that is used on the submarine and land based versions. It prevents water to get into the air intake of the sub launched version and also includes thrusters than will direct the missile into horizontal position after vertical launch. Once in horizontal position, the cap get ejected and the air intake is fully visible. Check YouTube videos of vertical test launches and you will see what I mean.
