ViBGYOR Activists& Friends Protest Against the Attempt of Hindutva Forces - YouTube

So the RSS were protesting this movie called Ocean of Tears being screened at some film fest in Kerala..the movie itself was about the Indian army and Kashmir, and "human rights violation". Firstly I was totally shocked as to how this sort of nonsense was allowed into the film fest. But I decided to have a look at the trailer...and the
Curious I had a look at the movie...and wow....just wow, right in the first frame, it says this

    Here's the actual trailer

My mind is just blown......how does a govt fund short propaganda films against *its own army*? Are these guys totally out of their mind? This is the of film Pakistan would be totally proud about.
Also....people who were talking about freedom of expression etc in the other thread....Where is the limit? Are you okay with propaganda being made about the Indian army?

Edit: Perhaps this should be moved to politics and society section...?

Brother, India media is very open and no restrictions are placed but still every year in press freedom index, India is placed very low.

Releasing of this movie in film festival do show that there is freedom in electronic media, cinema etc.

RSS workers stop screening of 'Ocean of Tears' at film festival - The Times of India

THRISSUR: Activists of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) forcefully stopped the screening of 'Ocean of Tears', a Kashmiri documentary film on Friday afternoon at the ninth edition of the ViBGYOR international short and documentary film festival being held in Thrissur.

The film was later screened after police removed the activists from the theatre hall.

A dozen activists of RSS, shouting Vande Mataram, barged into the regional theatre hall and tried to destroy the projection screen, projector and other equipment at 6.20pm, about 10 minutes into the beginning of the film, directed by Bilal A Jan.

    However,
    >> I am sure, all 400-odd spectators were SECULARs who don't give a damn about nation or our Army!

BJP state cell coordinator B Gopalakrishnan, had on Thursday, demanded that the organizers of the film festival not to screen 'Ocean of Tears', alleging that the movie maligned the image of Indian Army.

Earlier, the assistant commissioner of police (Thrissur city) Hari Sankar had personally visited the venue to ensure smooth screening of the movie. The police authorities had also watched the movie on Friday well before the movie was screened and had deputed cops and shadow police for security inside and outside the theatre hall.

Though all the spectators were allowed to enter regional theatre only after thorough screening, the protesters jumped the compound walls to enter the theatre hall. The festival organizers, at the same time, alleged that police made way for the protesters before and after the issue was broken out.

RSS men demolished hoardings and banners displayed in the entrance of the regional theatre during their protest and destroyed the compound gate. Police authorities also let the protesters leave the venue without arresting them at the spot.
Wow! RSS is always evil :sarcastic:

    TOI news

Yes score well on totally useless things like freedom of press indexes across the world, while you start giving people reasons to hate their army, one of the institutions in the country that has a lot of respect.

Then the matter should be laid to rest, there really is no point in raking up these issues in an already sensitive area where our troops face many challenges everyday. Atleast if the govt doesn't ban the movie, since it is deemed baseless, why does it have to fund it?

This is freedom of expression and it is not that human rights violations have not occurred in Kashmir.

IA only tried to defend its territory from bloodiest jihad unleashed on India by Pakistan, in the process human rights violations did happened.

The fault lies in the aggressor and policy of Jihad by Pakistan who chose to take the fight to ordinary folk and made the lives of Kashmiris miserable.

Bro, please understand that, Indian media is a paid media and works on selective secular propaganda.

Releasing this flick in film festival is an expression of utter foolishness.

This reminds me of a dialogue from Swades ...Saab,woh kya kehte hain use? itz(s) like giving light to neighbour's houz(s)e.

Indians doesn't hate their army and they have full trust and faith on the Armed forces. In 1991, Indian armed forces were facing and fighting against full terrorism and it was an open war against Indian nation.
