WB has had only two Finance Ministers during the 34 year period of Communist rule, both well known economists - Asim Dasgupta with a PhD from MIT and Ashok Mitra with World Bank experience. The state govt over 3 decades continuously had a high expenditure at around 6% of the GDP, similar is the case with Kerala. Punjab the third state with a debt problem has been put in this situation due to central govt not paying them for food grains over a period.

NSS data show Bengal topped in creation of new jobs in manufacturing sector among all States during 2004-11 period. During these six years, more than 40 % of new manufacturing jobs created in India were generated in the then LF-ruled Bengal. In all, 58.7 lakh manufacturing jobs were created across India. Of these, 24 lakh were in Bengal. With 14.9 lakh jobs, Gujarat was a distant second. The data is significant as resistance in 2008 to acquisition of farmland in Singur for a small car factory had hit Bengal’s attractiveness to industry. Even during anti-industrial campaign by TMC, with Maoist help in 2007-08, BENGAL achieved 12 % industrial growth. LF objective was to increase SDP in a manner that would generate employment. Even in LF last year, 2010-11, close to a lakh jobs were generated. LF Victory in 2006 was seen as a vote for industrialization. Bengal had largest number of small-scale manufacturing units. During 1991-2011, 2531 new big and medium units were set up. After the 1960s, Bengal saw its best period of industrialization during 2004-11. Smallscale manufacturing enterprises were developed at district level and all this culminated in Singur. Prior to Singur, 1,872 middle and big industrial projects were developed during that period.

Commies are hilarious when they try to sound 'intellectual'. If the Titanic was full of commies they would drown while debating soundness of the ship's structure and ignore water under their feet as counter-revolutionary propaganda.

Wrong. The top leaders would escape on life rafts and give lecture to others to sacrifice themselves for the great cause.
