Hello everyone, I have been reading through the Forum for a while and I finally decided it was only polite for me to introduce myself. As you might guess from my screen name I am a huge Star Wars fan. I love all SW, original, prequel, expanded universe, the current Clone Wars series, every book I have ever read. I don't discriminate, I love the entire series and the entire universe. I like Star Trek as well but between the two, SW all the way! I am also a military enthusiast with very little actual training. You might say no training but I did spend two years in college in an army ROTC (Reserve Officers Training Corps) program. For those who are unfamiliar with ROTC, it is a program in the U.S. for college students to enter the armed forces. It generally consists of a class in Military Science every semester, physical conditioning and training at least once a week (usually at 0'Dark thirty) and one or two FTXs (Field Training Exercises) a semester. As I was in an Army program, we had the usual marching, weapons familiarization, map reading, tactics and strategy and so forth. We would then apply these in the morning sessions or during the FTXs. While I loved being in the program, at that time of my life I was unsure if I wanted to commit to further training as I would then be obligated to enter service. Since I wasn't sure, I decided to back away. For those who complete the program, they are then commissioned into the U.S. Army (or any branch of the service they may wish) as a second lieutenant - either Active or Reserve as they wish. They do get to pick the branch of the service they want (Infantry, Armor, whatever), however, they may not get what they wish. As is usual with most militaries, their needs outweigh your wishes. Ever since then, I have always had a strong interest in military affairs. I had (and still probably have) some friends in all other U.S. services (Air Force, Navy and Marines) so I was also interested in all the other services. As my heritage is Indian, I have always had an interest in the Indian military as well. Recently it has become easier to keep up with Indian military affairs through forums such as this (Bravo). A little about myself: I am educated as a physician and trained in Family Medicine in the U.S. However, I am interested in research more than practice and am thinking of relocating to the U.K. or Canada to pursue more graduate and post-graduate studies. I am particularly interested in Stem Cell medicine and Regenerative Medicine as I think they are the future of medicine. I have also recently picked up an interest in photography and I have been trying to teach myself some photographic techniques. I have an entry level DSLR (Canon XS 1000D) and a couple of lenses. Other hobbies include reading (especially Star Wars), sports (watching more than participating unfortunately), internet and computers. I'm sure there are others but I can't think of any at the moment. Anyway, I wanted to introduce myself and try to become more active at this forum.
