The giants of US and Russian CAS operations exhibit a range of differences from integrated mission types to basic capabilities. Arguably, they are not equivalents, but then again, the two are frequently discussed in the same breath. So can we really compare the A-10 and the Su-25? Well, we're certainly going to try.

Captain George Asselanis, USAF's A-10C Operational Test , 422 TES will be speaking at the forthcoming Close Air Support conference in September. He will be sure to have an opinion on the matter. He will be giving an overview of the A-10's capabilities and about extending the life of the A10 until 2020.

Which do you think is better? Can they even be compared? Send in your thoughts, blogs and articles to

@Kunal Biswas,

Su-25 was not based on A-9, I guess whoever made this poster got imaginative.

In all fairness though, the A-10 has proven itself when compared to the Su-25.

I'd take an A-10 anyday.

Su-25 and A-10 are DIFFERENT machines from different classes.

A-10 is anti-tank weapon with simple avionics and smart weapons (as was planned originally), built around a big anti-tank gun.
Su-25 is a flying artillery with relatively sophisticated avionics and dumb unguided weapons.
