Has the Dravidian movement that was anti-Brahmin to begin with led to a more egalitarian society in Tamil Nadu ? In light of the Uthapuram incident perhaps not. What is the take of our members from TN on this ? AFAIK A Raja is a dalit and one daughter-in-law of MuKa is dalit. Please shed some light.

The real Dravidian part of the DMK died after the death of Anna. DM after that became the fiefdom of Karuna family and ADMK the personal property of Jaya.

Though SC discrimination still exists I personally feel the extent of discrimination of Dalits as portrayed in this article is a bit exaggerated.

Dravidian politics is not the panacea for all evils...they have done some good job here...but things like caste which are deeply entrenched cant be done away so easily, let alone by political parties.

dalits have intra caste rivalries and now Hindu vs christian rivalries in AP and T.N.One thing is certain embracing Christianity did not give relief from the spectre of caste.Iam increasingly being attracted to Buddhism and sikhism

Dalits are the only issue that is India?

That may have been the bottomline, but it is all about Dravidian culture and ethos being swamped!

The conversion to christianity has actually added one more dimension to what was till recently a strictly inter-caste affair. Now it has become intra-caste also...

It may sound incredulous - but I have heard atleast one incident in Kanyakumari where there have been skirmishes with Hindu OBC and dalit on one side and xtian OBC and Dalit on another side.....
