JK girl to sing at Asiad closing ceremony Daily Kashmir Images

Jammu, Nov 20: India will be well represented in true Bollywood style at the closing ceremony of the Asian Games in Guangzhou. Forget the stapled visa row, forget diplomatic sparring over Tawang as the honour of representing India will go to an artiste from Jammu and Kashmir.
With a flavour of Bollywood and Chinese numbers for company, Tanya Gupta, along with her partner Ravi Tripathi, will dazzle at the Asian Games closing ceremony on November 27 at Guangzhou. They have prepared popular Hindi film songs to carry the India message home.
"We will be singing Bollywood numbers. They love Hindi music especially Jai Ho. The Chinese love it," says Tanya.
Incidentally, Tania is a resident of Jammu and Kashmir, a state whose disputed status has been a contentious issue between India and China at the diplomatic level.
While China has been issuing stapled visas to Jammu and Kashmir residents, Tanya's worries were set aside with a stamped visa.
"There were issues regarding the visa. I was worried (that) I will miss the opportunity but it came my way. The organisers got me a business visa," she says.
"I am from Jammu and Kashmir and I am representing India," she adds.
Diplomatic hassles set aside, Tanya's performance at the Closing ceremony will strike the perfect note for Sino-India relations.

China has not stopped. Solution: India should start issuing such visas to Tibetans and Uighars etc.

The J&K girl going on a stamped visa, is Shabir Mujahid also going on a stamped visa?

Ideal would be HH the Dalai Lama applying on a UN Passport wanting to go to watch the Asian Games to cheer the Tibetan sportspersons in the Chinese contingent, if any!

The Chinese double game should be observed carefully. They are a careful people.

That they gave a stamped visa is not because of any change of heart or policy. It is just self preservation instinct of the Chinese and their vainglorious attitude.

They did not want any problems to mar the Games, which they wanted to showcase once again. Therefore, a political row would be the hardly desired by the Chinese to spoil their showcased Games! It was to prove that they were #1 in Asia in Games!

Old Pingpong Diplomacy saying - Don't take Chinese at face value. They run silent, and they run deep!

Yet, one cannot but help appreciate the Chinese. They know how to survive and conquer the complexities of the world.

Remember, Deng had said - "it does not matter what color a cat is as long as it hunts mice".

Therefore, staple or not staple does not matter, the Games must go on, without any unpleasantness that harms China's standing.

Pious in thought and low in morality! That is the code that is being followed.

India's firm assertion that Kashmir is as important to India as is Tibet and Taiwan; AND they dont even hold Taiwan , might have helped.

Chinese policy changes quickly .They will find some thing else to needle India.
One trick is over .Time for a next one

And they will keep playing tricks until we say enough is enough. And we should be ready to back our words with action. Remember, how the chinese tried to deter our PM from going to Arunachal by bullying. Once the PM called their bluff, they retreated.

Chinese govt's penchant for diplomatic flip flop's is unbecoming of a emerging super power and should be a cause for deep outrage for Chinese nationalists.Having taken a seemingly belligerent stand against India over Kashmir, which even amounted to what we can call as principled(a term one wouldn't use to describe the commy China's undertakings)now they have apparently backtracked, much to the anguish of the commy warriors. Its baffling every time China wants to cock a snook at India,India ends up having the last laugh

There is an incident in Swami Vivekananda's life. Once Vivekanada was going to a certain temple. Steps led to the temple. But the place was swarming with monkeys and they were quite aggressive. As soon as they saw Vivekanada, who was carrying some eatable items in service of god, the monkeys attacked him. Vivekanada was frightened and ran. The monkeys chased him. Vivekananda, not knowing what to do, kept running as vigorously as he could. Suddenly Swami heard someone calling him thus," Stop, face those brutes." Vivekananda heard these words of onlooker and turned to face those monkeys. As soon as the monkeys saw that their 'prey' was challenging them. They ran away. Swamiji learnt never to give in to bullying and to face the bullies boldly.

The behaviour of monkeys is the typical behaviour of all bullies. The PRC's behaviour is pretty similar.

GOI's recent stands have borne fruit I feel. I mean, the chinese are unpredictable, but recent message from India shows that, we are not afraid of the neighborhood bully and will stand up to protect ourselves.

GoI does not allow people to go to China on stapled visa. So the only way Mujahid is able to cover the Asian games is because he got a stamped visa.

China has been trying to flex her muscles as a "superpower" and bully other countries. In Europe she has tried to bully Norway over the issue of the Nobel Peace prize. One of the nominees was a Chinese dissident and the Chinese Government warned the Norwegians not to award it to him.

The Norwegian Committee awarded it to the Dissident anyway. So the ball is now in the Chinese govment court. Maybe they will stop shipment of toys to Norway so that the Norwegian kids have no toys for Christmas!
