The candle's seems to be lit from this side of the border. Nothing wrong if people of other religions also celebrate this festival. Most of the Indian Festivals are designed to be fun, reason why they appeal to people !!

Dharmic religion people celebrate this festival because this day is an auspicious day , This day is important for Hindus, Sikhs, Buddists and Jains.
