This spin issue should have been mastered long back. HT2 seemed to fail in this aspect too. HAL has not learned to master it in so many years, dont think they can master it.
U mean to say HTT-40 is not successful in spin tests. Any source?

Nope i said there is little hope HAL can master this issue. HT2 was the first trainer HAL made. HTT 40 is a recent one and still to perform spin trial. I hope they succeed but that i think it is a high expectation.

Hawk can be used in advance training. It is advisable to move to Hawk from HTT 40 straight away.
Please read not advisable. Hawk has a supersonic speed in dive mode. There is a large gap between the speed and systems of HTT 40 and Hawk. HJT 36 is very much necessary as an intermediate trainer. You can fly a proper turbofan aircraft in form of HJT 36. The most important of all is that it will be fully indigenous aircraft with our own jet engine and radar. We can sell them in big numbers to aspiring countries.

Why use HJT36 instead of HTT40? If turbofan is needed, then Hawk can be used. It is better to use HTT40 as trainer for basic training and then Hawk for more advanced training.

I don't think trainers have meaningful radars. Hawk has radar but not trainers like HTT40

From a speed of about 400 kmph to trans sonic speed is a big gap and that is why HJT 36 was required to feel the gap between the two. This was for 3 stage training program of IAF which has to be changed because of the non availability of HJT 36. Even today IAF is ready to accept it provided it meet all the specifications. So what I say is not my opinion but the requirement of IAF.

HJT36 is dead. Both HAL & BAE are happy. As import of 50 year technology of Hawk is beneficial to retirement funds

HJT 36 is all set to come back. this is my favorite plane as it will be fully Indigenous. HAL made 25 kn engine can be fitted into it so as desi radar and other Desi systems. Actually. this would have come early. Had we operationalize this one prior to Tejas, Development of Tejas would have been much easier.

The problem is it came too late.

With HTT we can replace PT-7, but we can't replace Hawk with Sitara.

Moreover, HaL has put enough Hawk-i and I don't see a justification for Sitara.

The first flight is going to happen by the end of the year, let's give 2-3 yrs for testing.

Short answer is, Sitara's fate was doomed when it failed spin tests... No matter how hard we try, It is not good enough to replace Hawk nor compete Hawk-i.

Good news this. #Sitara is back and hope this time for good. Unless IJT is proven, it will be a tough ask for HAL to convince IAF with SPORT. As always, it's a pleasure to see a plane getting back to flying.
