Gurkhas are better in hand-to-hand, but in a shooting fight the Legion wins. If you compare the two in the 21st century, Legion is getting FELIN while Gurkhas are getting sent home.

Gurkhas are kinda born warrior it seems, kinda warrior caste. While Legioniers are professionals. Correct me if I am wrong but both are of different strata.

Not really, they are more a mercenary caste than a so called "warrior caste." I have served with them in peacekeeping and they aren't really hardcore like the legendary Gurkhas of the past. They are proud of their tradition but they have softened. Legionaries are professional mercenaries the same as them. They just don't have a tradition of it in their families necessarily. Gurkhas are hardcore into hand-to-hand combat, martial arts and things but not heavily trained on being expert rifles. You will see them mainly in UN peacekeeping missions or security guards all over the world. Only a select few get to go to the UK which is top of the mountain for them.

Agreed but when it comes to balls, Gurkhas do not have steel but depleted uranium balls.:thumb:

A retired Indian Gorkha soldier recently revisited those glory days when he thwarted 40 robbers, killing three of them and injuring eight others, with his khukuri during a train journey. He is in line to receive three gallantry awards from the Indian government.

MYREPUBLICA.com - News in Nepal: Fast, Full & Factual

And this proves that Gurkhas have not softened up in any way.

Gorkhas will own the FFL any time anywhere. It comes naturally to them.

The reason is that they are demanding pay and perks as is given to the normal British Tommy.

They are also demanding the right to citizenship of the UK.

Visit the British Army Informal Forum ARRSE and go through the threads on the British Gorkha.

Guess why the British are no longer welcoming the Gorkhas who were taken as hero from Aldershot, which they have made into a Mini Nepal?

The British these days are wary of foreigners settling down since one day it will not be the land of British but of immigrants.

Same is the fear everywhere, be in England or France or even Assam!

Dispassionately observing, both the Gurkhas and the French Foreign Legion are good in the environment that have operated and operate.

The difference is that the French Foreign Legion recruits included failed revolutionaries from the rest of Europe, soldiers from the disbanded foreign regiments, and troublemakers in general, both foreign and French.

Here is the history of the French Foreign Legion

here's a fun fact...during the anglo-gurkha war king of nepal hired french military officers to train the army(later known as Gurkhas) jungle warfare.
