Cong's New Gujarat Poll Promise: Laptops to Students

    Ahmedabad | Rajkot | Sep 04, 2012

Continuing with poll promises in the election-bound Gujarat, Congress today announced that it would provide free laptops to every student after class 12th.

Besides free laptops, the party has also promised to "overhaul" the eduction sector in the state, saying that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi had ruined the education system in the last 10 years.

Congress has also promised reservation in private schools for poor students and 30 per cent fee concession to them.

"If Congress comes to power in the next assembly elections, we will provide free laptops, build hostels for students in cities, build sports complexes in every taluka of the state, set up a university in tribal areas of the state," Congress president Arjun Modhvadia said announcing sixth point of "Gujarat People Development Vision-2012"......

Top RSS leaders meet in Gujarat ahead of assembly polls

    Gandhinagar, September 8, 2012 | UPDATED 00:25 IST

Ahead of the crucial assembly election in Gujarat, 60 top leaders of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) are meeting at Kyavarohan, a village about 6o km away from Vadodara for three days beginning Friday. RSS sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat is scheduled to attend the meeting.

The meeting assumes significance in view of the fact that recently Bhagwat had praised Gujarat chief minister's Bihar counterpart Nitish Kumar for good governance. Modi is expected to meet Bhagwat in Vadodara on Sunday. However, neither RSS nor BJP confirmed the meeting so far.....

Still, don't underestimate him. We can't find same election atmosphere like 2007. Both parties are doing nothing.Even newspapers became silent. I think this time Modi has to rely only on urban votes and that's why his team is busy campaigning in rural areas.Only Gujju TV channels and radios are having election related advertisements heavily, but not actual face to face campaign. Today, Modi holds a big Yuva BJP sammelan here in Gandhinagar, obviously got big crowd presence. I guess, BJP is gearing up now and will become ahead of congress in next few days as monsoon became active and drought is gone from many areas. So, congress lost its main point to oppose govt here. But they still have 6 more points to announce.I guess the big points have been declared like 'Ghar nu Ghar',etc. And other points are very chu points and I don't think there would be something special. Now,let's see howmany votes the Garib Kalyan Melas will bring to Modi, as govt is busy doing them since past 1 month. This would be the main factor for Modi from rural areas.

I always liked that "Jitega Gujarat" campaign. That was really mass appealing. Now both party has very lame slogans. BJP got "Sauno Sath, Sauno Vikas". Congress got " Disha pn badaliye ane Dasha pn badaliye". That's too long and modi always makes mockery of that disha, dasha in his speeches...

And I think, that Tulika Patel will be hated as beyond hell....

If he himself can win his seat but can't win many seats for his party.Btw, he can decrease some of vote share of BJP and that can be problem in some regions. But you can count 5-7 seats of his influence.
