1) Would the data/control terminals be located in India (currently Reapers are controlled in Las Vegas for all Reaper users including the British)?
2) Would the datalinks and SATCOM be transmitted via US or Indian sats (GSAT-7)?

Big questions that need answering to see how far India is selling itself out.

obviously India needs to fund imported equipment and domestic projects at the same time but these sort of deals really are quite painful when one considers that the entire LCA and Kaveri projects thus far have just barely been given about this ammount and "all" India gets in return is 22 UAVs whilst the LCA+Kaveri have literally created an entire aerospace industry in India and laid the foundations for great things in the future.

It's very hard to justify these almost frivilous deals when domestic projects are so under-appreciated.

What can this do that an alternative from Israel with lesser strings cannot do?

Its not just the drones, it comes with set ups for the 22 drones, and includes the cost of developing the base for basing these drones, all the infrastructure

The price does seem very high we could induct 20 Rafael for the same price :notsure:

If 2 or 3 billion dollas was invested in setting up an R&D facility then we might have achieved something. :bplease:
How can we be a super power when 80% of our weapons are Imported. :bs:
I just think 2 billion seems a little to much for a 10 million per unit drone even after all the installation and facilities.
All this just to appease Donald Drump :creepy:

Damn would have been lot better if it were armed predator drones.

Think of 2 billion $ investment in Rustam series and other UAV UAC projects and what would be the result. Problem is we spend too much time in testing. We have live boarders for testing. Why don't we take out everything and test on real borders. We will have first hand experience and faster development cycles.

A question to everyone.....

Was this deal done ($3 billion for 22 drones) to appease Trump???

Are we getting any tangibles (strategic or H1B visas or other economic) as quid pro quo??

Expensive!!! Now the craze for imported stuff has latched on to Indian Navy as well.

Nothing can justify this purchase. We already have reconnaissance drones of Israeli origin, so why buy this? Does this exorbitant price also include the cost for US loyalty.

There is a requirement of 4000 drones, it would be wise to invest this money inside the country and not on stupid imported drones.

Cost of drone will somewhere between 80-100$ million.
We still don't know the exact cost of acquisition,so we can't determine the price.
We are non-Nato so price will be higher.
get your senses first.
