General Joins BJP
Former Army Chief General VK Singh, over 100 ex-servicemen to join BJP today
Former Army Chief General VK Singh, who was engaged in a bitter battle with the government over his age, is expected to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today. More than 100 former servicemen - jawans and officers - will also join the BJP along with Mr Singh.
"The country's interest is supreme. And BJP is a party that works for national interest," General (retired) Singh said on Friday.
General (retired) Singh had met BJP leader and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at his official residence in Bhopal last week which fueled speculation about his joining the party. The ex-army chief, though, described that meeting as "courtesy" visit.
General (Retd) Singh had, in October last, ruled out joining the BJP, saying that he was firmly behind veteran activist Anna Hazare in his crusade against corruption.
The statement had come close on the heels of his sharing the dais with BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi at a rally in Haryana, attended mostly by ex-servicemen.
General (Retd) Singh was the first serving military chief to drag the government to court in the hope of establishing that he was correct in claiming that he was born in 1951, not 1950. Documents with the Army reflected both dates. In his petition in the Supreme Court, he had asked for an explanation of why his claim that he was born in 1951 and not 1950 had been rejected by the Ministry of Defence.
The Supreme Court, however, had upheld the government's decision on the issue, saying it was not in favour of entertaining the Army Chief's petition.

I wish best of luck to Gen V.K. Singh...
He will be better advised not to contest from Jhunjhunu as Lt Gen Raj Kadyan of AAP is contesting from there.
Madya Pradesh would be a safer bet.
A tight slap in the face of Congress and its B-team AAP. He truly said that BJP is the party that works for the nation's interest, I wish Ex. Gen V. K. Singh and his 100 army men best of luck. :thumb:
THE ONE HUNDRED.
Anyway how do you guys think that if he wins, he would make a good candidate for Defense Ministry?
Vk singh for defense ministry, kiran bedi for home.
Give Him Def min... India Needs a aggresive man in that post...
Ambassador to Myanmar even to Nepal ... Defense has to be someone like Jaswant SIngh but he is needed more at MEA.
Dr. Subramaniya Swamy Suits well for MEA
He should be finance minister.
He is too straight for MEA.
If BJP wins it will be more likely Dr Swamy goes into Finance Ministry. Not sure if he would have the connections to get Minister of Finance - but might get Minister of State with a Minister portfolio (like Overseas Indian Minister) along with that. His skills are needed more in Finance Ministry.
In MEA need a grafter. Dream team for the MEA:
Jaswant Singh (Minister)
Ravi Shankar Prasad (MoS)
Rajiv Pratap Rudy (Mos)
Believe me they would transform the MEA. Chaps likes Hardeep singh puri are good but they ought to be put on special roles and responsibilities tasks like UNSC membership attainment that they have experience with that really needs a political push and due attention.
General VK Singh is for the present day and is in vogue because of the apathy many are having against the current administration. obviously the congress will try and get generals and army leaders on its own to counter the image that the army is with BJP for example they will get quotes from some general that army ought to be apolitical and also get some general to say what congress has done with one pension one rank for army. It needs to have this because congress really is being painted to be aloof:
but if the BJP wanted to send a clear message that it means business get the below leader on board and people will really start thinking. his entry into BJP will signify that BJP wants to focus the armed forces in a particular way. VP Malik is a neutral and he is useful in his current role on the outside.

Also there was this beauty:
Anyone heard about the case for FDI in economy being held up because of Indian defense preparedness and its impact. Thats the ultimate topic that needs to be spoken.
These guys should work behind the scene and give direction to IB,RAW,Home ,Defence.
He is fully polished diamond.
It seems Gen VK Singh maybe contesting from jhujhunu where AAP is also fielding a ex-army heavyweight (some kadyan or so) @Virendra
Brothers first let Modi make govt, then portfolios can be distributed.................
Are you sure? IMHO that situation should be avoided. Otherwise it will give rise to another kind of narrow politics, which we always see.
Jeet to pakki hai.
I guess St Antony is doing great job no corruption and no difference of opinion between men in uniform & defence ministry:taunt1:
BJP should ask Antony to continue soon he will make india the same india in 1962:thumb:
No, Kiran Bedi wouldn't be good choice for Home. When she would be a thousand times better than useless fool currently in the chair, she lacks the delicate touch needed for a good home minister - particularly after the mess the moron would be leaving behind.
