Should we re-consider urbanization plans to stop migration from villages by making villages self-sufficient?

Was Mahatma Gandhi indeed wrong from administrative point of view of Indian growth?

Or we'll suffer damages of massive urbanization eventually ?

Of course he was wrong in his economic policy. All that idealism of Charkha, self-sufficient villages - is just idealistic utopia.

The only issue I see with Indian urbanization is, all the wealth and jobs are gravitating towards the top 8 cities. Time to develop tier-II cities.

At the core he is right though! If villages prosper then India will prosper because majority still live in rural area.

But cities are centers of communication which villages cannot be.
