Southeast Asian Leaders Earn Highest Job Approval in Asia
Asians generally more likely to approve than disapprove of their leaders
    by Melanie Standish

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Majorities in more than half of the 21 Asian countries and regions Gallup surveyed in 2011 approved of their chief executives, with leaders in Southeast and South Asia earning some of the highest marks in the region. Laotians, Cambodians, and Sri Lankans were the most likely to express support for their leaders, with more than nine in 10 saying they approve of their job performance. The 20% approval rating that Pakistanis gave their president was the lowest in the region.

Recent government corruption scandals and economic troubles have likely tarnished the image of Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who has seen a slight dip in his approval.

Strange, going by the reactions on this forum I though 75% of Indians would disapprove of his leadership!:ranger:
But yes his approval has dropped by 6%.

Note:More than 3500 Indians were interviewed by Gallup for this survey.

MMS had a 85% approval rating in 2009 in a similar Gallup poll, so his drop to 59% is quite a big drop in 3 years

And you can't assume that opinions on this forum equals opinion in India as a whole. Broadband penetration is around 10% and only a miniscule amount of those 10% are interested defence and strategic issues. We have just a little more than 10k members on this forum.

So polls on this forum reflects the views of the members of this forum. Not of India.

3500 votes? Alright, apart from Congress, it's DMK and TMC politicians and their heirs in waiting, who voted for MMS. Given the current economic conditions and negative business environment, I'd give UPA II and Mr. MMS a big zero.

I know, I know. I was being sarcastic. The situation the country is in today, MMS deserves no vote at all.

Did congress buy even the 59% of the vote for MMS?

Seriously, what has he done anything significant that he has earned 59% approval. It was all scandals and scams in UPA-II, no reforms whatsoever. I certainly don't agree with the poll.

Exactly. The same way a poll of 3500 people doesn't reflect the view of 1.3 billion people of this country. Statistically speaking, the poll results are total BS.

MMS is a good administrator, the father globalization and liberalization in India. His administrative skills are not of question, his man management skills however are. I recently read an article on Iran, where he gave a pathetic reply saying "India has it's energy needs" on India's stand against Iran.

Wish MMS was really delivering. If the poll is indeed a reflection of the public at large, one can see how gullible the Indians can be.
