Will FRCV be killing Arjun mk2???
That's the biggest question. Answer is only a "Probability" as can't be said certainly.
Why it can be "Yes"
Because Army wants not just the tank but rather a Universal Combat Platform on which several other systems may fit. Ironically Arjun is also a potential multipurpose test bed which still now hasn't been put into much dimensions. SPA , BLT ,AEV, ARV several systems yet to be seen in large nos. When one working system already exists then why is the need of a new system, replacing all of them? Clearly, this will kill Arjun.
Why the anwer may be "NO"
Indian Army clearly mentioned FRCV is to replace T-72s, we have many systems based on T-72 (Ajeya)systems too. Army is possibly seeking a "Futute Ajeya" platform, a 50T system. This will help evaluating our own NGMBT. Clearly there are not much tank systems exist which can replace role of T-72 still be within 50T. So basically they will not do work of Arjun. Arjun Mk 2 definately going to see cinsiderable no in service .
This thread is dedicated to FRCV tender by IA.
Thanks @rajmalhotra for pointing out.
They will continue their chutiyapa for next 40 years.one day they claim this FCRV is not enough to challenge latest threats. We need to urgently import russian junks to bridge the critical shortages in armoury
Most likely these vehicles will never see combat. Better equip infantry soldiers with latest and advanced kits and junk these billion dollar white elephants
50 ton +- 25% weight is kept because Indian army doesn't know the actual weight of T-14 armata which is kept confidential by the Russians. As soon the Russians reveal its true weight the tender will change. The tender is clearly designed to favour the Armata. Even if arjun mk 2 manages to get 60-62 ton it won't be selected and army will demand more features to increase its weight.
Hope government stops spending money in Arjun tank .
Kudos Gernails of IA, another feather in the cap I see. Funny thing is that presstitutes will not make hullabaloo over this when it is needed.
I sincerely hope that DRDO goes to town on these jackasses and rip them a new one.
They all have gone mad.....This import lobby needed to be strictly dealt with..
How many crates of vodka was spilled over to get this rfi.
Meanwhile indian army continue spend billions in rrussian tanks.
Indian Army To Buy 464 T-90 Battle Tanks Worth US$ 2B
Unless we are not slapped with arms embargo,we are gonna continue buy Russian junks.
Please embargo us.
government is is silently conducting funeral for indigenous projects. They r importing even ammunition worth billions of dollars.
India Has Just Bought $3 Billion Worth Of Emergency Weapons And Ammunition
The shopping from Russia
Dont know who made fortunes in these emergency purchase.
most of these deals are strategic in nature...Indian army is looking for Future MBT & Arjun is hardly futuristic....Armata offers a leap which DODO can't provide even in next 2 decade.
They only managed to indigenised 70% of T 90 & will be reaching 90% by 2020 at minimum while Armata is next generation technology which neither our enemies have or will have for long. Pakistani have nothing to match even T 90 & they recently rejected chinese junk for Ukrainian one.
Armata presence in battlefield will shatter paki morale & we can also get license to produced it in India & gradually indigenised it like T 90 & learn technology know how to build a real FMBT.
There is nothing futuristic in Armata. Tank designs and prototypes of 3 man crew capsule and remote controlled unmanned turret in a MBT existed in 80s and 90s in USA and Germany but they choose not to field it.
Arjun is comparable to the best tanks like M1A2 SEP,LEO-2A7,CHALLENGER 2 and Merkava -4 and belongs to 60 + ton weight class.
T-90 on the other hand having been comprehensively defeated in all aspects of tank vs arjun in 2007 is still being inducted.
Also we don't own the T-90 design which the Russians have refused even after taking money in the name of TOT. Also it is a shit of a design compared to Arjun mk2.
Hence for India Arjun mk2 and FMBT is the future.
