There was a lecture by some guys from long term perspective planning guys who were talking about network centric warfare and they said that the T72 will remain till 2045+.

Regardless of whether you have top of the line Merkava or a T72, the enemy will still have to carry one anti-tank munition to take it out. Imagine having 5000 light weight tanks like T72 going into napakistan. The enemy will still need to carry a corresponding number of anti-tank rounds to tackle this. It creates logistics nightmare on their end. Assuming that the enemy does not know our thrust lines, they will have to equip themselves with ATGMs numbering at least three times the number of tanks we have because they don't know where we will attack from. Imagine Pakistan having to deal with the logistics of procuring and maintaining 15000 ATGMs simply because of our T72 tanks. This does more damage to them than an actual tank would do in a battle.

Baba kalyani has prepared a new gun for T 72 on their own and has offered for test for replacement. There is no response from government.

This is actually a 2000hp engine and will be tuned up for 1500hp for better and longer life as explained by @
BrutusMarcus..

One word "Logistics". The Bridges, Railroads, Carriages everything are circled around the sub 50 ton tanks. That includes the bridges and other infrastructures.

Army should stop giving excuses about weight and buy more of these from DRDO.

This thing can take a load of 60 tons.
