    French arms sales increase 21%
    Feb 8, 2010

PARIS - FRENCH arms sales shot up in 2009, with orders rising by a fifth to nearly eight billion euros (US $11 billion), the defence ministry's armaments division said on Monday.

Orders reached 7.95 billion euros, 21 per cent higher than the previous year, it said in a statement.

The total included a major order for four Scorpene attack submarines by Brazil that was announced at the end of 2008.

Orders by France's government from French firms more than doubled in 2009 to 19.3 billion euros, including 60 Rafale fighter planes from Dassault Aviation. -- AFP

Cool stuff. An India mirage deal will further push up its ranking. MRCA will push it even further.

We have alot of big ticket items on the plate this year. FX-2 in Brasil, 60 Rafales to UAE, 4 Mistrals to Russia, 6 FREMM Brasil, 3 FREMM Saudi Arabia, 24 Rafale Kuwait... those are where we are favoured to get a deal done. If we get MMRCA and Mirage upgrades signed this year, we will surpass the United States. Next year we have the USAF tanker competition would set us up well for 2011 too.
