The Aviationist » Operation Odyssey Dawn explained (Day 1)

In other words the French show at the opening of the NATO attack on Libya was not so spectacular considering the low level of air defense threats in Bengazi.
We didn't launch AASM at a moving convoy, that version didn't have laser guidance to do so. We dropped several dozen Paveway II. Rafale avec RECO NG was flying every corner of Libya from Tripoli, to Sabha to Benghazi. Of course it was the US that lost an F-15 over Benghazi, but who is counting.

So Aster missiles will be pitted against Yakhont Anti ship missile.

Israel has already deployed Indo-Israeli made Barak-8 Surface to air missile on its Naval ships.

American intelligence analysts have concluded that a recent Israeli airstrike on a warehouse in Syria did not succeed in destroying all of the Russian-made antiship cruise missiles that were its target, American officials said on Wednesday, and that further Israeli strikes are likely.

Israel carried out an attack on July 5 near Latakia to destroy the missiles, which Russia had sold to Syria. While the warehouse was destroyed, American intelligence analysts have now concluded that at least some of the Yakhont missiles had been removed from their launchers and moved from the warehouse before the attack.

So Israel destroyed Some of the Missiles ..Not entirely ..will see in next few days How much of them exists in their Arsenals

But why does France want to attack Syria?

Rafale sales can hardly be reasons enough after the disaster going on in Libya.

I thought France was a neutral country.

Is it 'The Chindu' editor's heading or been plagiarized from another source ?
It is Chindu of course. Nothing he said backtracks on his previous statements. He is fully arming the Syrian opposition and when we get the assets in place, we will provide air support. Chevalier Paul and Dixmude are already heading to the area, CdG will be soon to follow.

Britain, France seek more time to weigh military strike on Syria
French officials also are calling for a delay in action until U.N. inspectors conclude their report. "Before acting, we need proof," said Najat Vallaud-Belkacem, a minister and government spokeswoman,
Why is french waiting for UN report? If they wanted a certification from UN,, then they should have told like the italians in the 1st go itself. Also its not as if france is arming rebels only now, or it needed to arm rebels after "chemical attack". This is happening for some time now. The Q is what happened from tuesday till thursday?? What is stopping france from punishing the perpurtators of the chemical attack in syria??

Najat? You are quoting the minister for women's rights. haha She is no spokeswoman of the administration. We are waiting to pre-position the necessary forces to conduct strike operations. It doesn't happen overnight.

WRT to the minister, if she is minister for woman's rights then why is she talking to international media on french decisions on syria??

If you are still preparing to go, then why did hollande say on tuesday that france is ready to punish who gassed innocent people. Link.
"France is ready to punish those who took the vile decision to gas innocent people,"
So my Q is france waiting for UN report or not. If yes and then if the UN report says assad is not the person who gassed innocent people, then will france still go ahead and strike syria??

She was not talking to international media, she was being interviewed on France 2 about the condition of women in Syria. Her commentary is not national policy.

We are planning to go, the report from the UN inspectors only has one conclusion.

If she's concerned on women's plight in syria, then why is she asking for UN report when hollande had already told that france is ready to strike syrian regime.

Which is????

-------------------------------------------
Anyways, is there any update on french preparations?? As per you, what is the earliest timeframe that france can strike syria??

I don't know what you are referencing. She was answering a question on the fly be her interviewer about Hollande foreign policy which she is clearly not qualified to answer.

Guilty...

The earliest time is 3 days... the length it takes CdG to go from Toulon to Syria.
