In 10 days, Pakistan has seen 7 terror attacks, death toll at 126

The last ten days have been particularly violent for Pakistan, as the country grapples with one terror attack after another. The combined death toll in the last ten days stands at 126 right now

Attacks on government officials and buildings were claimed by the Jamaat-ul-Ahrar group, a breakaway faction of the Pakistani Taliban, which announced its ‘Operation Ghazi’, named after Abdul Rashid Ghazi who was killed in the 2007 Lal Masjid faceoff. In a video released on February 13, the outlawed terror group said they would deliberately target legislative bodies, Pakistan army, NGOs, women rights groups and liberal activists, among others.

The other attacks targeted crowded markets, rallies and a Sufi shrine and were claimed by a whole host of terror groups.
  • Here is a closer look at Pakistan’s ten days of terror:

February 23: Two blasts rock Lahore; five killed, 21 wounded

A powerful blast shook an upscale market in Pakistan’s eastern city of Lahore, killing five and wounding more than 20 people. Initially, reports on Pakistani TV channels said the blast was caused by an exploding generator, but later reports suggest that the damage was due to a bomb explosion. Security forces have cordoned off the area.

February 21: Suicide bombers attack court complex in Charsadda

On Tuesday, suicide bombers attacked a court complex in Tangi , in the northwestern town of Charsadda, killing at least six people. Rescue operations are underway, even as the authorities hunt for a suicide bomber who is still lose within the court complex. A spokesman for the Pakistani Taliban’s Jamaat-ur-Ahrar faction claimed responsibility for the attack, telling journalists that the fight was still going on.

February 18: Suicide bomber triggers blast at Lal Shahbaz Qalander shrine

At least 90 people died after an Islamic State (IS) suicide bomber blew himself up at the Lal Shahbaz Qalander dargah in Sehwan, 132 km from Jamshoro and around 140 km from Hyderabad. The attack happened while devotees were in the middle of dhamaal, a sufi ritual where the devout remember the saint through music. The Islamic State subscribes to a hardline, orthodox version of Wahabbi Islam and dubs Sufi practices as un-Islamic.

Pakistan’s army chief, General Qamar Bajwa said that the deaths will be avenged. The army and paramilitary forces launched a crackdown, killing over 100 militants in Karachi and other parts of Sindh, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan.

February 15: Two suicide attacks in Peshawar

Two separate attacks on government officials claimed 7 lives in the northwestern city of Peshawar. In Ghalanai, which falls in the Mohmand tribal region, five people died after an explosion occurred at the main gate of the tribal headquarters. The Jamaat-ul-Ahrar group, a breakaway faction of the Pakistani Taliban, claimed the attack in a statement released to the press.

At least two people was killed and more than 18 injured after a suicide bomber targeted a government van in a separate attack. The attacker rammed his motorcycle into the van, deliberately targeting the government officials. The outlawed Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack.

February 14: Two policemen die while defusing bomb in Quetta

A Pakistani bomb squad officer and another policeman were killed trying to defuse a bomb in the southwestern city of Quetta. Both men died on the spot, their bodies blown up. The Sunni Muslim militant group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi’s Al Alami faction claimed responsibility for the deaths.

February 13: Deadly blast rips through Lahore rally, 16 killed

A suicide bomber rammed his motorcycle into a police vehicle during a rally at the Punjab assembly building, where hundreds of pharmacists had gathered to protest changes in a drug sale law. At least 16 people were killed and more than 83 wounded. Five policemen numbered among the dead.

Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a Pakistani Taliban-linked armed group, claimed responsibility for the attack. A spokesman for the group warned in a statement that the blast was “just the start”. Pakistan arrested over 30 people in connection with the blasts and launched an operation against militants in Punjab province.

Lol, China orders mandatory GPS trackers in cars in xinjiang, to monitors muslims. Will pakis stand up for the blatant violation of ummah, or no.

Note to Indians: There is a lot to learn from China, this is one of them.
Ghanta they will stand up. Their Islam is only for show. They piss their pants if China raises a finger.

Punjab police’s blatant racial profiling

LAHORE: In a clear display of racial bias, citizens have been asked to report any persons of Pashtun descent to the Punjab police as part of an ongoing crackdown launched against terrorists in the province after the February 13 Mall Road bombing.

Claiming that people belonging to the Pashtun ethnicity are gathering intelligence for terrorist outfits in disguise, the police have warned the public regarding the dangers posed by these ‘suspicious’ characters.

According to the IGP office, the government had directed the Punjab Police to begin an awareness campaign asking the public to report any suspicious persons or activities. The move had been an attempt to utilise public intelligence on the ground to counter possible terrorist threats. However the campaign has fallen through in a whirlwind of ethnic discrimination with the police force singling out Pashtuns by asking people to keep close tabs on them.

The IGP office spokesperson, when speaking to Pakistan Today, has claimed that no specific person, group or ethnicity had been highlighted in their directive which simply asked for increased vigilance through public monitoring. However, upon further inquiry, he did admit that district police departments had, indeed, been asked to have “these people [Pashtuns] checked”.

An example of the Punjab Police’s anti-Pashtun rhetoric was seen in a popularly circulated pamphlet issued by the Mandi Bahaudin police department. The circular asks the public to be extra vigilant and to keep an eye on any persons “appearing to be of Pashtun or Afghan heritage.” It goes on to describe how these suspicious characters could be found working as “tea & dry fruit vendors, and as salesman of children’s toys or household items.”

PRO Mandi Bahaudin, Abdul Rauf, elaborated on the circular saying the directive to act against Pashtuns had come from the Punjab government. He further said that a threat alert had alerted them to possible Pasthun terrorists gathering information for banned outfits whilst disguised as everyday roadside vendors or salesman. He said that the move had been pushed to the extent that announcements had been made in mosques asking people to stay alert regarding any suspicious activity coming from Pashtun quarters. While he said he was not at liberty to give details regarding the success of the campaign, the officer did say the move has “come to fruition already.”

Pakistan started counting traitors before it actually became a nation. There has hardly been a time since its birth that it did not find itself on a crossroad, crying foul at the top of its voice.

Man these guys are really something, showing TATA sky dish antenna and saying it's use for spying and what not.

Post # 5 does not make sense to me I have no idea what that guy is talking about, Wireshark !!!! who uses that shit, Maybe amateurs. In cyber we use completely different software to snoop in.

I worked for TATA communication for 2 years and I have been working on radio and wireless system for a while now and just moving into a bit towards satellite side. I have no clue what that guy is talking about(either he is really smart and I am not upto the level or he is really dumb at low level, I think it the second one). 802,11n are you kidding me ? I can break into those wifi devices without using any special software just by using an backtrack OS. (brute force attack)

Idiots don't realize that there is no country in this world that can break AES description not even NSA. Well only a limited amount of data can be translated with brute force. But at ISP level it a different story, people don't realize that only the payload is encrypted not the header, so people can see the trail where packets are going.

At federal government level it becomes so easy to snoop in and specially in places like Pakistan where there are no cyber laws protecting citizens, government can target whom every they want.

BC is using urdu words as if he is not a Bhatt but a Maulana.
Sirjee, the Hindus of Kashmir valley are not the same as the Hindus of Jammu. Kashmiri Hindus like Bhatt, Razdan etc are the elites of that society and they are the most divisive element in that society (just like Congress is in India). The elites are never pro-masses, because an elite only gets to have a lot of things at the expense of the masses.

Another good example is Nidhi Razdan from NDTV. Razdan is actually a Pandit surname, but we all know where her loyalties lie.

Hindus of Jammu are commoners, the Hindus of the valley are at par with Nairs of Kerala (technically upper caste but vehemently anti-Hindu in their views)
