A massive explosion ripped through the political office of the home minister of Pakistan’s Punjab province on Sunday, killing at least three people, according to media reports.

A ‘jirga’ was being held at the office of home minister Shuja Khanzada at Shadi Khan in Attock district when the blast occurred.

Several media reports said Khanzada, a former colonel of the Pakistan Army, was among the injured.

Khanzada’s staff confirmed he was in the office at the time of the blast and was injured, Dawn News channel reported. The roof of the office collapsed and about 25 people were buried under the rubble.

Geo News channel reported on its website that Khanzada’s office was targeted by a suicide attacker though there was no confirmation from police or government officials.

Police, a bomb disposal squad and rescue workers rushed to the site. Khanzada was given charge of the home department in October last year.

He earlier served as advisor to Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif, the brother of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

This is more likely a revenge attack, they killed the head of LEJ days back.

The bomber got the access to the province home minister easily and detonated himself.

there are two versions

1) the blast took place at the entrance (unlikely since the whole building collapsed)

2) The bomber blasted himself close to HM.

The suicide bomber blew himself at the back side/(adjacent street) of the HM office, this resulted in the collapse of the roof. Initial investigation says there is more than one suicide bomber.

The timing of the blast coincided with that of the location of Pakistani Punjab HM.

Pak's Punjab Home Minister among 19 killed in suicide attack

A senior minister in Pakistan's Punjab province known for his tough anti-Taliban stance was today assassinated by two suicide bombers who blew themselves up at his ancestral home, killing at least 19 people in the brazen attack.

The banned outfit Lashkar-e-Jhangvi (LeJ) has claimed responsibility for the suicide attack on Khanzada, sources in the interior ministry were quoted as saying by Dawn News. The intelligence reports say that there are at least 150 sleeper cells of LeJ in south Punjab. Khanzada had also received threats from Al-Qaeda and Tahreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.

Shuja Khanzada, 71, the Home Minister of Punjab Province, and a DSP were among the 19 people killed when the suicide bombers attacked his political office in his native Shadi Khan village in Attock district, rescue and administration officials said.

At least 17 people were also injured in the blast. The condition of three injured persons is stated to be critical. The suicide bombers entered the building disguised as visitors and blew themselves up. As a result of the blast, roof of the house caved in burying the minister and about thirty other people.

Inspector General (IG) Punjab Police Mushtaq Sukhera said two suicide attackers carried out the attack.Saeed Elahi, advisor to Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, confirmed the death of Khanzada.

"Punjab Home Minister has died in the suicide bombing," Elahi said. Khanzada's body has been shifted to District Headquarters Hospital Attock.

"Some 40 to 50 people were present at the dera (out house) of Col Shuja when a suicide bomber managed to enter the house," Commissioner Rawalpindi Zahid Saeed said.Khanzada, a retired colonel, was holding a jirga (reconciliatory meeting with his area people) at his house, some 100 km from capital city of Islamabad, when the attack took place.

Saeed said Deputy Superintendent of Police Shaukat Shah was also among those who died in the blast. The army said that special search and rescue team equipped with high-tech machinery to retrieve the people trapped under the rubble of the roof which collapsed due to the bombing.

Police said Khanzada was under threat following the killing of LeJ chief Malik Ishaq in July.

"The hall of the building where the meeting was underway collapsed in the blast and over three-dozen people including the minister were trapped in the rubble," Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah told reporters.

Police sources told PTI that adequate security was not provided to the minister at his Attock residence.

"The home minister's security was not at optimum level at his ancestral place," the sources said.

Nothing will happen.

Pakis consider these things(and butchering of their 160 kids) as love from their Terrorist brothers.

These small things are nothing when their main motto comes ie. ruling their jahil janta in the name of fake India boogyman.

Parrikar's comments confirm India sponsoring terrorism against neighbours: Pakistan defence minister

Monday, 25 May 2015 - 6:35pm IST | Place: Islamabad

Manohar Parrikar's remarks that "terrorists have to be neutralised only through terrorists" is the "worst" declaration by a state functionary and "confirm that India is sponsoring terrorism against its neighbours", his Pakistani counterpart, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said.

Manohar Parrikar's remarks that "terrorists have to be neutralised only through terrorists" is the "worst" declaration by a state functionary and "confirm that India is sponsoring terrorism against its neighbours", his Pakistani counterpart, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said.

Parrikar's statement at an event in New Delhi last week has triggered a strong reaction from Pakistan, with many top officials condemning it. Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said Parrikar's statement was a blatant admission of sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan, according to a report by state-run Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) on Monday.

Parrikar's remarks confirm "our assertions of Indian involvement in terrorist activities on Pakistani soil", Asif said, adding that the Indian minister had categorically stated that rules would not be followed to quell terror activities; instead terrorism would be promoted for the purpose. "This is the worst kind of declaration by a state functionary of cabinet level which confirms that India is sponsoring terrorism against its neighbours in the name of preventing terrorist activities," Asif said.

On Thursday, Parrikar had said India will take "pro- active" steps to prevent a 26/11 type attacks hatched from a foreign soil. "We have to neutralise terrorists through terrorists only. Why can't we do it? We should do it. Why does my soldier have to do it?" he had said.

On Saturday, the Foreign Office issued a statement by Advisor to Pakistan Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz expressing concerns over Parrikar's remarks. "This statement only confirms Pakistan's apprehensions about India's involvement in terrorism in Pakistan," Aziz had said.

Minister for Information Pervaiz Rashid had also condemned Parrikar's statement the same day, calling it dangerous for regional peace and exposed Indian designs. World needs peace, but India is talking of using terrorists, he said.
