The week-long "Experience China - Sichuan Week" officially opened in the Indian capital of New Delhi on Tuesday evening.
Representing their home province, young artists and magicians from China's Sichuan gave a grand and breath-taking performance at the opening gala.
The opening ceremony of Sichuan Week, which is being organized by the Chinese government, brought a variety of gifts to the Indian people. Included in the spectacle were dances, music, traditional opera, magic shows and singing. All were presented to an audience that was greatly touched and astonished by such extraordinary performances.
The Governor of Sichuan Province Jiang Jufeng, said in his keynote speech that his 200-strong delegation was implementing a communiqué signed by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh last December to promote friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Indian Minister of Statistics and Program Implementation, M.S. Gill, said that India and China have been good neighbors for thousands of years and he was glad that Sichuan has brought a part of the great Chinese culture to India to promote the interactions between the two great civilizations of Asia.
The performances presented by the Sichuan Provincial Singing and Dancing Troupe included Jubilation, Charm of Bashu Arts -- Mask Changing and Giant Puppet, Wushu: Rhythm of Martial Art, Acrobatics: Ballet on Hand Palm, and Tibetan Dance Batang Xianzi.
