btw referring to the many posts just above on this page, i personally DIS-AGREE with pres Pranab M's statement
describing it as peanuts !!

language is important - we are talking about diplomacy and political posturing
at the very least we want to portray to the world who we are
- which is sometimes in contradiction
to what they think about us

preferably ( had i been pres !!) - then I would have said :-
" LOOK HERE - IT'S YOUR MONEY - IT'S FOR YOU TO DECIDE ! "
that way we would have avoided even the slightest hint of negative emotions
and throwing the ball right back to them , and leaving them in a sort of quandary
so any wrong decision is their fault !

instead now they can CONVENIENTLY point a finger at us
(thanks to pranab's seemingly emotional outburst )
( and that in itself is another topic - as a high ranking politician
you cant have such outbursts ......Nirupama Rao may have done better )

and they , the uk can now blame us,
they hold the moral higher ground and they play the aggrieved victim
"who only wanted to help"

and quietly hint - look at these ungrateful, Indians

i know that in the end - it's no big deal
but still - just look at china - even 1 millimeter of "disputed" land they dont give away
and want it back
and instead look at us

pranab gave away the higher moral ground advantage we had
we could have used it to fine-tune our relationship with a country
that is still not a push-over in terms of technological ability ( the UK )
but we dont fine-tune - we rough-tune ....hah !
another give-away from an organization that seriously lacks brainstorming ability

( so whats' new about that )
