Earthquake with magnitude of 8.9 has struck near Indonesia

Its getting real confusing now... news coming in that Indonesia (Aceh) is now hit by aftershocks of magnitude 8.8 (original was 8.6) !!!

BBC news interviewed American Geoligacal survey. Second tremor in same region 8.2 scale. Probably horizontal again but best to play safe.
My heart goes out to people in the region.

Indonesian agency confirms second after shock of 8.2 (original 8.6, 1st aftershock 8.8)... they are also saying this could trigger a tsunami !!! and warning has been extended due to this.

I just saw on telly people gathering on Chennai beaches, reporters asking them How you feel now?

They are taking pictures, smiling like its the New Year eve!

First was reported to be 8.8 but finally some report quoted 8.6. Then 2nd came, Now 3rd after shock of 8.3 on R scale.

Yes, IAF & NDRF have responded spectacularly fast. 3 Aircraft already airborne for A&N islands with relief material & teams. Even Air Force station near Port Blair, all evacuated except four people.
