There is a reason why Karuna is called chanakya in TN political circles.

congress is a liability than an asset in this election and he knows it.

The team that needs to worry most is now NDA as they have lost another state TN.

So DMK be ready for ride of your life . Every day u have to see CBI in your doorstep

Kannimozhi , Raja & others will be based in Tihar jail soon all the best

Wrong move from DMK in bid to gain vote bank from Tamil sentiments which is resulting in uproar in TN against SL

Politicians do not care for any genocide or massacre only what they care is how much vote bank & popularity they can gain from doing stunts on this issue:frusty:

SG has said she has nothing to say on DMK pullout. If things stand, it may be a blessing in disguise for India as the govt will fall.

Oh wait no, Cong- Nitish bonhomie is not for nothing.

Interesting days ahead. India should know vote in the UN based on its interests rather than Tamil Political parties interests.

Well that seals it. GOI will not be too critical of Lankan Govt. after all.
The Nitish Kumar - UPA interaction seems to have materialized into something concrete.
I think the Govt. is still safe though.

If they rejoin UPA, DMK will lose what little credibility they have in the state.

This is a smart move by DMK they're unlikely come back to a sinking ship.

Bro right now the credibility of DMK is at rock bottom and if it continues to be seen with congress that is more of a liability as DMK has a separate vvotebank while congress does not have one. So DMK does not loose anything by separating from Congress while it has everything to gain by posing as standing for Tamil cause.

As it is, this is a master move from the wily old fox.

From NDTV site. DMK pulls out of Govt. Ten developements.

    • Though the DMK has pulled out, its chief M Karunanidhi said that if the Indian Parliament adopts a resolution before this week's Geneva session of the UN's top human rights body, he could change his mind about participating in the government.
    • Finance Minister P Chidambaram said that the government has begun consulting all political parties about that "suggestion."
    • The DMK has 18 seats in the Lok Sabha and five ministers in the cabinet. The ruling UPA coalition is already in a minority, but the crucial external support of regional powerhouses Mayawati and Mualyam Singh Yadav means it is not in danger of collapse.
    • The US has moved a resolution against Sri Lanka, which will be voted upon later this week at the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC). The DMK wants India to move strongly-worded amendments which use the term "genocide" for the alleged mass killings of Tamil civilians by Lankan defence forces in the final few months of the island nation's civil war with the rebel Tamil Tigers.
    • The DMK also wants India to push for a time-bound, independent and international inquiry into the alleged war crimes in Sri Lanka.
    • Mr Chidambaram said the government is reviewing the draft of the US resolution "to determine whether amendments can be made to "strengthen that resolution."
    • In what is being seen as an overture to the DMK, Congress president Sonia Gandhi told her MPs at a meeting this morning, "We are fully committed to the cause of Lankan Tamils and an impartial inquiry should happen into the allegations of atrocities against them."
    • Government sources indicate that while India is likely to ask for an independent inquiry against Sri Lanka, it cannot back the term "genocide."
    • DMK chief M Karunanidhi was visited in Chennai last evening by a trio of ministers - P Chidambaram, AK Antony and Ghulam Nabi Aazad - in an unsuccessful attempt to navigate a compromise.
    • India has summoned its Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, Dilip Sinha, to Delhi today to brief the government on the US resolution.
