That's exactly what Kalyani was saying. He explained how once he got a sub-contract from DRDO to fabricate some sort of part, he put his best engineering team on it and got it designed, and built, then he didn't hear back from DRDO at all. He was saying that he has more guarantee or revenue if he takes sub-contract from automobile manufacturer than defense as the former guarantees large volume of sales and latter guarantees nothing. He said that if the order is large enough only then Indian manufacturers will put their engineering teams to do engineering otherwise they are happy serving as a leased leth machine for other MNC automobile companies.

I do not think that they will get anything unless government ask them to develop a particular military stuff.

In one more interview, He said that defense secretary came to him and requested one million ammunition of guns at the time of kargil conflict. They started production on very next day. They fulfill the order and then there is no communication from government no new order.

How many trials does Indian army need when it is suffering from critical shortage? Manufacturing 60 guns per year is not enough, at least 300 needs to be built. Stop wasting money on bigger warships and missiles and army should be given basic things first.

We should not even have bought FH-77 we had FH-70 with range of 24-30km depending on ammunition, Soviet 152mm 2A36 with a range of 30.5-40 km compared to Bofors Gun's 21 km range.

Trials are to find faults so that Army could reject it in favour of imported stuff.

:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::facepalm:

what is the weight of FH-70 ?? how to transport it High altitude mountain areas ??:smash::smash:
Did you think I said to buy FH 70 instead of M 777 then you are wrong.

FH 70 weighs 7800-9600 kg and FH 77 weighs 11500 kg.

That's why Indian army needs a reform. Instead of British era caste, race based organizations other methods of organization should be chosen.

We need a Defence Minister who understands how defence stuff works and force military to accept them. Military leadership is pathetic and a few should be tied for gross negligence, corruption etc. If possible Secret Police should be kept to watch over. Enough with nonsense.

Army already has the biggest share in the budget. It up to the army to manage things better so that there is maximum utilisation of funds. It's not good to keep funds unused. Also, it's not good for an army and a nation as large as our's to keep buying basic equipment like hand-guns, carbines, assault rifles and other guns from abroad. After perfecting INSAS as INSAS 1B it is important to keep sourcing guns of every kind locally so that development can continue and army keeps on getting advanced weaponry in foreseeable future.

Many Indian military officers suffer from inferiority complex, most of them are convent school educated that's why they lack belief in indigenous systems. British era systems are root cause of this inferiority complex. National inferiority complex seems like is spreading everywhere. I think after successful user trials of Dhanush MK 1 Army will 45 caliber is not enough so wait till 52 caliber Dhanush MK 2 comes. Oh well and meanwhile buy one batch of Howitzers from foreign country. Another round of corruption and good luck with spare part supply. Hey we cannibalized 240 Bofors to keep rest 200 running did not we? Meh.
