Primary Duties – Project Work CALGARY/CANADA



  • Receive work tasks and priorities from the Project Coordinator
  • Assist in the installation of NWS communications and electronics systems, including but not limited to, data/voice communications, multiplexers, radar, satellite/RF communications, router based IP networks, weather detection equipment
  • Test, troubleshoot, maintain and install a wide variety of electronic, electromechanical and mechanical equipment
  • Analyze equipment failures to determine cause and recommending corrective action
Secondary Duties – NWS Maintenance


  • Perform corrective and preventive maintenance on NWS systems, including but not limited to, data/voice communications, multiplexers, radar, satellite/RF communications, router based IP networks, weather detection equipment at the remote sites.
  • Troubleshoot NWS equipment operating problems. Use test equipment to diagnose and analyze difficulties.
  • Liaise with NWS Control Centre (NWSCC) Technicians and request authorization for system downtime, verify operational status of NWS equipment after downtime, enter data and ensure the accuracy of work order information.
  • Secondary duties, as required, may include but not limited to: participating on the Fire Brigade; providing bear protection; assisting in the maintenance of the LSS library; conducting environmental, safety, security and quality checks and audits, general housekeeping in support of a healthy and safe workplace environment and taking proactive and corrective measures in these areas.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements


Individuals with a minimum 2 years of experience on the job training working with telecommunications/electronic systems, and completion of post secondary program in an electronics field or CF military equivalent, are encouraged to submit their resume.


  • Proficiency in the use of commercial test equipment and tools used in troubleshooting and repair of electronic circuits is mandatory.
  • Strong knowledge of telecommunications, RF, radar, satellite, IP network systems, with ability to read and interpret related drawings and manuals.
  • Customer service and detail oriented.
  • Effective written and verbal skills (English).
  • Must be Standard First Aid trained, including CPR Level A, and hold a valid certificate.
  • Must hold, or obtain prior to scheduled start of work, a Possession and Acquisition License (PAL).
  • Work above the ground level and work in harsh weather conditions.
  • Must be familiar with safety regulations and practices, including working at heights.
  • Must be comfortable working in and flying to remote Arctic locations via helicopter and/or smaller fixed wing aircraft.
  • Hold a valid class ‘G’ driver’s license, or provincial/territorial equivalent
  • Must possess serviceable safety boots that meet standards for workplace safety.
  • Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Work Environment


  • Ability to travel as part of a small team to and from locations, including personal meal preparation and tidying.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including Fall Arrest Harness, as required.
  • Ability to work under physically demanding, often adverse weather conditions in remote Arctic locations.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity and an understanding of work in the Canadian Arctic.

With the expansion of our Operations team, we are recruiting for Automated Test Equipment Technicians to join our team in Calgary. Reporting to the ATE Supervisor, you will be responsible for diagnostic testing, fault isolation and repair of Avionics and Test equipment assemblies down to the component level.


Working in an avionics laboratory environment and using your highly developed skill set, you will generate an airworthy product in accordance with approved documentation and standards.


Minimum Qualifications And Requirements


  • Electronic Technologist Diploma or Military equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the repair of complex Avionics equipment
  • High technical aptitude and detail orientation
  • Enjoys working independently for long periods but can also work well within a team
Preferred Qualifications And Requirements


  • Experience in repair to component level replacement (Microcircuit, capacitor, etc.)
  • Familiarity with spectrum analyzers, signal generators, and network analyzers,
  • Strong test lab organization skills
  • Knowledge of Military specifications for components and repair standards
Ideally, you are an ASET Certified Electronics Technologist and you are able to complete tasks with a minimum degree of supervision. Lastly, you have a positive attitude and enjoy being a member of a strong team.

Computer Vision Specialist







Participation in the Scrum Process:

  • Work in a collaborative team setting with Systems Engineers and Software Engineers.
  • Regular attendance of Scrum process ceremonies, including iterative planning, standup meetings, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Provide estimates and suggestions to assist with planning tasks in iterations with respect to items related to subject matter expertise.
  • Work with the continual iterative and incremental development methodology of the team, so as to undertake and execute specific commitments on an iterative basis.
  • Determine deliverables and schedule on an iterative basis in collaboration with the team.




Structure from Motion Development Support:


  • Work with the development team to enable immediate and continual feedback and communication between the Supplier and the development team.
  • Implement, modify, diagnose, or port relevant algorithms in C++ and CUDA
  • Program unit and integration tests for algorithms and mathematical implementations.
  • Execute other development tasks in support of the structure from motion system.
  • Pair program with developers to diagnose, understand, and remove impediments arising from the mathematical complexity of the system.
  • Provide and communicate insight into computer vision research and literature.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts.




Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide subject matter expertise to the Agile Scrum development team in the implementation of a production structure from motion system.
  • Continuously collaborating with developers to solve and remove obstacles imposed by the complexity of the mathematical problems.
  • Participating in development team sprints as the mechanism of determining iterative scope, deliverable, and commitments including specific tasks and research direction.
  • Choosing and implementing and/or porting various algorithms into C++/CUDA, as determined in conjunction with the development team on an ongoing basis.
  • Assisting the development team in understanding mathematical concepts.
  • Other duties as assigned, from time to time, by the Employer.






Basic Qualifications & Desired Skills:

  • Masters, or Doctorate Degree in Computer Vision/Mathematics or related discipline.
  • Mathematical programming experience required.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Familiarity with software development, architectures and practices.
  • Good organizational and administrative skills.
  • Experience and knowledge of surface extraction, calibration, pose and structure estimation, and robust solutions in the presence of noise.
