Soon after Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi landed in Rajkot, a Dalit victim, who was one of the seven victim beaten by Gau Rakshaks for skinning a dead cow on July 11, was re-admitted to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay (PDU) General Hospital in Rajkot on Thursday.

Ramesh Sarvaiya, 23, was discharged from Junagarh Civil Hosptal on July 18, but re-admitted to General Hospital in Rajkot under alleged political pressure, so that Congress Scion Rahul Gandhi could meet him.

The increasing incidents of violence against Dalits in BJP-ruled states of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh have given the opposition, especially Congress, an effortless opportunity to corner PM Narendra Modi once again after BJP's Rohith Vemula faux pass last year.

Despite being ridiculed for naivete, Rahul Gandhi knows the importance of the caste card, which is why he is visiting Rajkot to meet Dalits beaten for recently skinning a dead cow.

Ramesh Sarvaiya, along with six other members of his family, were allegedly beaten by Gau Rakshaks while skinning a dead cow in Mota Samadhiyala village of Una taluka in Gir Somnath district on July 11.

After the video of Dalits being severely beaten went viral on social media, followed by other incidents of violence against Dalits in Haryana and Madhya Pradesh, and fueled by the obscene comments of BJP leader Daya Shankar Singh against BSP Supremo Mayawati, the political battle over atrocities on Dalits has once against acquired the centre stage.

According to reports, Ramesh was admitted to the Community Health Centre in Una on July 11 soon after the incident. But the doctors there suspected a fracture and referred him to Junagarh Civil Hospital, from where he was discharged from on July 18, with his father Balu Sarvaiya, 46, who had sustained head injury.

“They had recovered from their injuries and, therefore, they were discharged,” Dr Alpesh Vaishnani, in-charge resident medical officer of Junagadh Civil Hospital told The Indian Express.

As per reports, the father-son duo and Ramesh's mother, Kunvar (42), were admitted to the Junagadh hospital on the night of July 11. But, curiously, Kunvar left the hospital on the afternoon of July 12.

Ramesh, however, was spotted in the surgical ward of PDU hospital on Wednesday, when CM Anandiben visited him. But the hospital documents show he was admitted to the same ward at 7.38 am on Thursday, around 7 hours before the Congress vice-president visited.

On July 18, the CM had announced that the Gujarat government would cover all costs of their treatment. Dr Dharmendra Vatsraj, medical superintendent of PDU General hospital, said, “He had abrasions and bruises and came to us for treatment. As a matter of policy, we cannot deny treatment to any patient. Therefore, he was admitted this morning.”

Besides Ramesh and his elder brother, Vashram (26), two other victims – Bechar Sarvaiya (30) and Ashok Sarvaiya (20) – are also undergoing treatment at the PDU General Hospital.

After inquiring about the health of Vashram, Bechar and Ashok on Wednesday, the CM said that none of them had fractures and that all of them were “normal”. Ramesh was on the bedside of his brother on Wednesday and Dr Vatsraj said he could have accompanied the patients in the hospital.

Vashram, Bechar and Ashok were first admitted to the Una hospital and had received treatment there till the evening of July 16. Doctors had told The Indian Express on July 12 that the trio were “merely under observation”.

But, later on, they were referred to Rajkot. “They had complaints of headache, giddiness and abdominal pain. Therefore, we referred them to Rajkot,” Dr Tariq Baloch, medical superintendent of the Una hospital told Express. But doctors at the the Rajkot and Una hospitals have other claims, saying they are “under pressure” to let the Una victims stay in the hospitals.

“The four patients from Una are completely normal. They are fit to be discharged any time. Other 11 who have attempted suicide by consuming poison are also fine and can be allowed to go home. But there is a lot of political pressure on us to let them stay in the hospital. The leaders of various political parties are coming to us and telling us that they are very serious and that they should continue to get medical treatment,” a senior doctor of the government hospital in Rajkot told The Indian Express on the condition of anonymity.

When contacted, Ramesh said, “My thighs have swollen again and the pain has recurred. Black spots have developed there due to the beating. When I told doctors about this, they advised me to get admitted and I agreed,” he said.

Ramesh said that he had been in the PDU General Hospital with his elder brother since July 18 after he was discharged from the Junagadh hospital. However, he denied that any politician or community leader persuaded him to get admitted again.

Ghatiya log Ghatiya soch. I remember that for photoshop, some material was collected bu khangresee goons at the time of Uttarakhand calamity. Instead of sending couple of trucks to uttarakhand, they waited for 3 days so that shahzada can come and waive green flag to give those trucks a green signals.

Doctors say they are under pressure to keep them in hospital.

BTW this is BJP ruled state same BJP leader hide behind their own ass when they are asked to raise voice if anything happens in a state not ruled by them.

This is how they have been losing propaganda war imposed on them and whose victims are going to be Hindus in the long run.

Today BSP snakes abused D. Sing's wife and 12 years old daughter with obscene and dirty language. That crook Mayawati came out to defend the language and blamed D.Singh's wife and daughter; deserving such abuses. %$#@%....%$

Media is playing very negative role in this type of matters, those who have beaten Dalit, didn't beat them because they were Dalits but for other reasons. These bloody media channels are hell bent on breaking Hindus of caste ground. They always make headlines like "Dalit this...", "Dalit that" criminal acts by Dalits in such cases are completely ignored.

Even educated people believes whatever media feed. Newspapers are also a big propaganda.
It can only change if normal people starts their own tabloid exposing corrupt media in state based language. I see BJP/Modi a big failure in that.

Not everyone can start tabliod or have time to do so

Nor we can expect current media set up to do so

It can oly happen when we have RW leaning news media which can filter news from hype

I thinks its upto dalits to find out how are its real massihas rather then ngo and others

even look current dalti students/organisation in major universaity.they go whatever crap is begin thrown by left leaning people/orginsation

Now some one in dfi would come with carp that not all left leaning are upper cast some are obcs

Yeh some are obc but beloging to storng OBC caste but still upper caste rather then belonging to sc/sts but this caste where never prescuted in past

How do dalits get the info ? Through their leader. Who's their leader ? The one who sucks upto corrupt gov and keeps them dalit forever. If anybody has seen the so called dalit leader on TV debates can understand it easily.

their counter-reasoning is, this 'mentality to readily assault' someone is the hallmark of an 'upper-caste' fellow, & he thinks of nothing before raising hands on someone esp from a 'lower-caste', whatever be the reason.
and then there's the ever-foolish BJP ever-ready to provide them more fodder. rNDTV & others have been running the news that some BJP MP/MLA said that 'beating dalits is a good thing'.
